Fiesta ST Confirmed for USA

Sorry if I'm slow, but this was news to me (really good news). If you can turn off all the traction babysitters, seems like a promising car!

If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.

Seems like ford is stepping it up.

I rented a F150 4x4 for a week in alaska, and it was close to perfect!

This hot fiesta could be what we're asking for! (those of us that like to drive and could care less about the endless creature comforts.) I absolutely agree LSD would make the car much much better. At a minimum, I hope you can fully disable all the stupid horseshit. I don't even mind disabling ABS, but I wonder how many neat lights will be flashing if you do?

The real deal maker/breaker will be in curb weight. If it weighs similar to the current fiesta, score! If it weighs as much as a Mini, then at least its competition! If it weighs more than a mini, then fail!

I know-none of the automakers care about weight nowadays because you can't have all the stupid gizmos and safety features without weight. Most of their customers want gizmos, not a good driving vehicle.

If you don't mind my asking, how much did that 4x4 Alaska rental set you back? (I've always had Alaska in the back of my mind (my grandparents drove there from Washington state multiple times) and the call of a visit has become stronger with Bronsin's trip and a subsequent trip my insurance agent and his wife took)

I have always been A Ford person but, I switched to Toyota in 2001 (a Celica) when Ford stopped bulidings any cars I liked and their quality went down.

However, Ford has since come a long way and if I was to buy a new car today, I would again seriously consider a Ford .

The Fiesta ST won't have a LSD persay...but it will have torque vectoring, which basically is a different method of a LSD. The Ford Focus ST has it and I guess it seems to do the trick pretty well. From my understanding, when cornering or loss of traction, the brake system steps in and applies just enough to that wheel to stop it from peeling out, essentially giving you a LSD without their being one.

Small cars continue to be a hot segment in North America and with the new Fiesta ST, introduced here at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, Ford is expected to have the hottest hatch around.
