O.K. gang.... this list of hotels are all located in the downtown area of Nashville. From here you'll be just a few blocks from the "lower broadway" area of downtown and a few blocks from the interstate. Also, it's about a 20 minute drive to Mike's, (where the friday night bbq will be), a few blocks from a bunch of honky tonks, restaurants, studios, the old Ryman Auditorium, (the original home of the "Opry"), Vanderbilt University, (in case anyone want's to get "intelligent"), and just about anything else you need. The Import Alliance Meet is out at the speedway which will be about a 35- 40 minute drive from this area.
If none of these places seem to suit ya'll I'll gather some more names of hotels you can rent by the "hour" !! At one of those "suites" you'll be able to share a "brown bag" with a local street dude, find a "date", and worry about someone sleeping in your car with you.....
I'm stoked !! All these Yarin's in my home town !!

So the prices I got this morning when I called are as follows...
Hampton Inn Elliston Place is already full those days.
Hampton Inn 4th ave is $189 a night plus taxes for 2 dbl beds/2 people
Comfort Inn is $129 a night plus taxes for 2 dbl beds/2 people
Courtyard Marriot is $139 a night plus taxes for 2 dbl beds/2 people
If you want to be in this area so you can enjoy the Nashville downtown digs this is as cheap as it's gonna get. I even checked on some other places out near Franklin/Cool Springs area which is an area that's your typical "mall/shopping/suburbia" area. It wasn't any cheaper out there.
Embassy Suites/Cool Springs was $149/night
Hampton Inn/Cool Springs was $129/night
I'd imagine hotels may be a little cheaper if you look out of the Nashville area. Some surrounding towns to look would be Lebanon, Hendersonville, Bellevue, Murfreesboro, etc.. I'll keep checking to see if I can come across any thing that's cheaper, yet will be clean and comfortable.
Later......

The Club Hotel is about 15 minutes from downtown. There's not much out there without driving somewhere. If you continue out past that hotel you'll head out towards The Opryland Hotel and Opry Mills super mall. You'll be on the east side of town which would put you a little closer to the IA event.

OK, let's face it. If you are reading this, you are not just an owner/operator of a somewhat offbeat fuel miser. For you, my friend, it has gone much further than that.
You are suffering from an addiction to Weird Little Foreign Cars. More than that - you're proud of it.
If you are going to the trouble and expense of traveling to Nashville, might I suggest a visit to what may very well be the North American epicenter of WLFCs: Lane Motor Museum at 702 Murfreesboro Pike. First (and so far only) road trip in The Little Red Devil consisted of picking up my father-in-law in Paris and scooting on down so's he could witness my uncontrollable drooling (when I started dating my future bride I owned two vehicles - a 1947 Dodge and a 76 Lancia Beta coupe. He knew right away what a complete whack job I was).
Anyway, 7 bucks to get in and the only barricaded vehicle is Sam Posey's Can-Am. Check out their web site. Weird and wonderful stuff. BTW, I don't work there.
I'm just an addict. Like you.

It may be a little more expensive staying in the hotels I posted, but I can promise you'll have a lot more of a "Nashville" flavor in the downtown area than outside of town. If ya'll double up it won't be so bad.

OK, these are the ones "bikegerm" recommended. The least expensive seems to be the Comfort Inn. I checked rates for 3 nights - Fri, Sat and Sun figuring we would arrive Friday afternoon and check out Monday morning. Rates are reduced for Sun night. So with 2 people to a room rate is $129.99 + $129.99 + $79.99 = $339.97 (I am sure that is plus tax and fees, etc.) With 4 people to a room rate is $139.99 + $139.99 + $89.99 = $369.97 (also I am sure plus tax and fees, etc.). Those prices are from their website.
Edit - **Looks like tax is 15.25% plus $2.50 per room per day occupancy tax.**
You can also add a roll away bed to some rooms for $10.00 more per night.
http://www.choicehotels.com/ires/en-US/html/Availability?sid=WMzdi.23KKNgLBM.4
Found this online coupon for Comfort Inn that saves 10% as long as you make your reservation through the hotel instead of online or through the 800#. http://maps.google.com/coupons/page?did=0_5939312056170424773&cid=7F4IX79BSQ5XMEVM&oi=md_coup&sa=X&ct=coup&cd=1&gl=us&hl=en
I am still not certain I will be able to go. Depends on the doggie situation and it's just too far away to make concrete plans. I would like to go ahead and make my reservation though. I am definitely leaning towards the Comfort Inn since they are giving a break for the third night. It is still expensive, but about normal for a downtown hotel.
What does everyone think? Any input?

Checked Doubletree rates. $169 per night for 2 people, $189 per night for 4 people. Once again I assume plus tax, etc. Also appears to only have a parking garage across the street. There is valet parking. Seems they only have double or king beds, no queens. Looks really nice though.

03-03-2009, 11:07 PM
Camelll has a SC in his yaris...and a trophy from the other show we were in...we'll smoke them. =)
OK..someone call the doubletree and see if we can maybe get a block of rooms? Say..2-3 per room..maybe try and get a block of 6. I don't think we have to pay for them right away, it would just mean we would all be on the same floor and near each other...

Checked with Doubletree. Rate is $169 per night for 2 people, either king bed or 2 doubles (no queens). $189 for 4 people. If you pay in full in advance you save $10 per night. It is plus tax, etc. Local # in Nashville is 615-244-8200 and 800 # is 800-222-8733.
There is no parking on site. Valet parking is available for $22.00 per day. There is a garage across the street that charges by the hour. She says it is expensive especially if you come and go a lot.
I am still leaning towards the Comfort Inn personally. I am not paying an extra $22.00 per day for someone to abuse my car. It may only be a Yaris, but it is mine.

I am still leaning towards the Comfort Inn purely for price.
I am open to other choices, but can't picture any of us letting strangers drive our cars. We really need somewhere we can park ourselves. parking should not cost extra when you are paying over $150/night for the room.

I did read the reviews on several sites about the Comfort Inn. No, they were not all flattering, but most were. You can not make everyone happy and things can happen anywhere.
I have said I am willing to consider other options, but I am not paying valet parking (I assume also plus tax and they expect a tip as well) in addition to a premium price for a hotel room.
It may mean I'm not right down town, but that is OK with me if necesssary. I can take a cab if I decide to go somewhere I don't want to drive.
I will try to research some more options this afternoon as well and I will wait and see what ya'll suggest.

The Comfort Inn on Demobreun is not a bad place. It's just around the corner from where I work. Next to "Music Row", your downtown, safe,... It's always full. Lot's of "touron's" stay there. It's clean and a little cheaper. If I remember rooms are $129.99 plus tax. It's extremely centrally located. They have parking at the hotel and it's 1 block from the interstate. Of all your suggestions, so far this is the best.

Thanks Randy, that is the one I suggested yesterday. You even get a discount on the third night. See Below:

OK just made my reservation at the Comfort Inn for July 24-27. (See pricing info above) I picked 2 queen beds just in case one of my girls wants to tag along. They also have rooms with king beds. Each room has a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hairdryer and iron & ironing board. Sounds great to me. They are just off I-40 and I-65.
She said she would try to put us all close together if possible. Her name is Paula and the number is 615-255-9977. Just give her my name, Cindy Lee, and she will try to put us all as close together as possible.

Last year when I attended this event there was not a parking fee, just an admittance fee to the event. I don't know if we will have to pay a fee as a registered group showing our vehicles. Mike will have that information when it is available.
Your choice with the Comfort Inn on Demonbreun will work out great for all of you'uns attending.

I may not know until towards the beginning of July and even then a life/death disaster could happen with the doggies at the last minute. I gotta recruit some help while I would be gone for sure. ImportAlliance Summer “08
What do 1900 cars, over 4000 people, and the Nashville Super Speedway have in common? The ImportAlliance Summer Meet for 2008. This was our inaugural year at this venue. We had attendees from almost every state in the union; and even a few cars from Canada which made it a true international event.
As usual the weather was hot along with the cars and for the first time ever ImportAlliance featured racing by Redline Time Attack. Despite the heat, the Top Speed Subura Impreza blistered up the track by setting the all time track record on Sunday.
For the first time ever, IA “08 featured a car build. The car, built by ….

BTW John it was good talking to you, and like i said we will try to accommodate YarisWorld members in a section at the meet. It would be cool if you all treated this as a national meet. We have other forums who have done regional meets and we're trying to accommodate any import car club or forum wanting space at ImportAlliance for regional or even national level meets.
We are currently working on a prepay to park in a specific zone plan and will post up here as soon as we can give you specific information. Otherwise as long as you all arrive at approximately the same time at the meet, we should have no problem getting you all together.

Any input?
While I know all of these to be very nice establishments, you may want to look closer to Murfreesboro or Mount Juliet. The superspeedwar is about 30-40 minutes from downtown. You may have to fight for rooms closer to the track but, you'll probably be closer to the "action" and definitely save a little money by avoiding downtown.
To the more laid back I need my sleep, or mature bringing the kids crowd, consider the airport area. Still closer than downtown Nashville, but far enough away from the IA crowds.

Alright I just made reservation for friday 24th and saturday the 26th. I figure I will pack light and take my stuff with me on sunday. I will be heading home after the meet on sunday.
Cindy I just called and the manager is not in but he said they did not have you listed for a reservation. Paula does not get there till 2 pm but I just reserved a room anyway. I will call Paula sometime and see if the guy I made my reservation with put me in the correct spot.
Just talked to Comfort Inn. They do have my reservation for my room, July 24-27 (Friday, Sat and Sun nights). It is just not a "block of rooms". It is just a request to put us near each other. Not sure how we could do a block of rooms since we do not know how many rooms we will need. The guy I just talked to, who I assume is the Manager seemed nice and he knew what I was talking about. I guess people have been calling. I did talk to Paula yesterday afternoon, she was also very helpful.
If you call to make your reservations just tell him you want to be close to me and anyone else calling from YarisWorld.

Comfort Inn - Friday and Sat night are $129 each and Sun night is $79. Plus tax and such naturally. I tried to negotiate us a better rate, but couldn't get it. Maybe they'll budge a bit on the price after we have 10 rooms or something booked. Hey, never hurts to ask.
I'm thinking group rate deal. If we can get X number of people it might be worth their time.

anyone still planning going down on Thursday as said a few months ago?
Thursday? That would be great. If I can work out Friday (gotta wait and see), I am sure I could work out Thursday if anyone wants to go earlier.
My husband just can't believe I am trying to get away. We've not been on a vacation in 7 - 8 years. Diffcult with all the doggies.

Yep, or even a couple of weeks. Easier to negotiate if there are 10 or 12 reservations already made.
I would only be able to leave Friday after work, so I'd get there Saturday morning.

John, there's a lever on the right side of your steering column. Move it up and down sometime. It makes those black things at the bottom of your windshield sweep back and forth across the windshield. You might need them when it rains.

I don't think there is gonna be a place to meet up. I will most likely be going through St. Louis, Missouri and then shoot over to Nashville. It looks like you guys will be going down 65 through Indianapolis, Louisville and on to Nashville. You will be coming into Nashville from the east and I will be coming in from the west.
I just saw that...we'll just have to meet up in Nashville. How long of a drive it is for you? I find it funny that I'm driving as long to get to Ohio next weekend as I am to Nashville. It's about 8 hours for me and yes, takes me through Indianapolis.

With hopes that I won't get in trouble.....some of you may want to check out Honda-tech.com. Yes I've referred you off forum. They have a bunch of caravans organized from as far away as Wisconsin, and maybe Minessota, and definitely Illinois and the upper north east. You may be able to get some ideas on checkpoints there. And you might find some additional drivers to roll with.
Matter of fact here's the link. Mods please accept my apologies if I've screwed up. If some are coming from the midwest or from up north these may be the best and most fun ways to get to IA. If these don't help it'll at least inspire you all on how you may want to plan based on the people traveling and the places you need to swing through.

Guys and Gals. I'm going to have shirts made for the event. This contest is a great idea. My ex father in law runs a print shop (shirts, key chains, decals, mugs, etc.) and will be producing them. If one of the mods could start a contest with the idea for a design contest, I'll be more than happy to have them produced. If we could keep the color design down to a 3color image, it will greatly reduce the cost of the shirt in the end.
The shirts will be produced via silk screen. All designs are welcome.

Great idea Mike. I would suggest a bright color (rather than white or black) for the shirt if pssible so we can stand out and easily keep track of each other.
When my daughter's now husband graduated from Marine Boot Camp at Parris Island she made our whole group bright yellow shirts to wear, it sure made it easier to recognize the people in our group in the sea of people there.
