John, there's a lever on the right side of your steering column. Move it up and down sometime. It makes those black things at the bottom of your windshield sweep back and forth across the windshield. You might need them when it rains.

I was wondering what those were for. I've taken them of my Lightning and was thinking about doing that on the Yaris too.

Well, I'm set for Checking in Thursday and Checking out Sunday. Anyone still going on Thursday? I won't be at the Comfort Inn, but I'm less than a mile up the road at the Marriott. My ex was able to get me a good rate. This means I will still be in walking distance to most of you and can stumble along if needed. lol

I still don't have solid plans for this summer and I don't know if I'd have the money to go

^ downtown chicago is ALWAYS a good place to meet! maybe one of the big parking lots off of lakeshore drive?

eww. i hate downtown, i'd rather meet at one of the oasis' going to indiana, cuz i think that everybody from wisconsin will use 94 going down here and so i think the oasis makes more sense and it will also beat the downtown traffic.

mrbond
03-14-2009, 10:11 AM
the only reason i suggested downtown (since i'd imagine we would be actually getting there on like a friday afternoon) is because people from wisconsin and whatnot might like to stop for a bit and look at the scenery. otherwise i'd be in total agreement about just meeting at an oasis. idk, whatever's easiest.

KCALB SIRAY
03-14-2009, 10:25 AM
Looks like we have about 13 going so far, nice. Let's get our number up to 20 and over and really show the ImportAlliance crowd what the YarisWorld community can do. Maybe we can even get some media attention as well, hmmm, that would be nice.

SIPNGAS
03-14-2009, 11:48 AM
I think the oasis would be the easiest...

there won't be much time for sight seeing in Chicago...we'll be wanting to get to Nashville.

Now..what day is everyone travelling...Thursday or Friday? I was hoping to go Friday.

mrbond
03-14-2009, 12:19 PM
^that's true. yeah an oasis would work best.
for me, i'd like to leave like early early on friday so there's enough time to get situated in a hotel, etc.

hey I got a few questions.
I want to go to this but its right around the same time as my class finals... so it may work out that I cant go, but anyway....

Are most people going for both days? or just saturday?
On the OP it says that its going to be on a friday the 25th? thats a saturday.....????
I may head up there on friday, stay friday and leave sunday morning.....
wondering what everyone else is doing?...

I didnt realize that this place is almost 7 hours away from me :OOO!
The one in ohio was closer, haha oh well, thats what I get for not planniNG AHEAD.

this sure does look like a great time.... I may even get my brother to tag along Im sure he'd enjoy it.

I am heading up Friday, leaving here very early in the am. I am planning on staying Friday, Saturday and Sunday, then heading home Monday morning. If I can work it out I may try to head up early and get there Thursday since it is very long drive and I figure I might as well see a few things while I am there and rest up for the weekend and the drive back.

To Yar1s I think he meant he wanted to have a get together on friday and then go to the show sat and sun.

just want everyone to know there is still no word on the group parking situation, but i will get it figured out. also, there will be a voluntary collection taken up to help fund the BBQ at my house. given last years bbq and the expected turnout of this one, we should have about 60-100 people at my house for this one (about the same as last year), dont worry, it wont be crowded though. theres plenty of yard room to do whatever it is you want, like volleyball and such. also i have a swimming pool outside and fooseball, pool (both kinds of pools LOL!), and table tennis inside for those who want to do that.

Fellow Yarins'..... I'm taking that friday off. I'll come into town and lead the Yaris brigade from the hotel, out to Mike's house so nobody will get lost. I'll also print out directions for everyone in case we get seperated by stop lights. If anyone else besides Jill needs picked up at the airport, I can also help out with that. I'll be working on thursday, but I can pause what I've got going on and get anyone to their hotel.

Mike... I'll get together with you before hand and give you some cash for the food. Where you thinkin' about gettin' the bbq? Let's show these people some southern hospitality !!

mikenacarato
03-16-2009, 03:46 PM

PreciousPups4U

We can also assist by bringing stuff if you need it as well (in addition to cash). Sodas, ice, chips, fruit, vegetables, not sure what else. In the hotel we won't have a stove so we can't do a lot of cooking, but I am sure we'd all be willing to help out however we can. I might could make some kind of dessert or something and bring it along. I was raised, you never show up empty handed. Might be a southern thing. We can evaluate all that when it gets closer.

It is going to be great. If I have a dog that has to have a c-section at the last minute I am going to be pissed. Hopefully everything will go smoothly. I've already lined up a couple of people to help me out here if needed. We have not had a real vacation in years so if this works out it will be amazing.

Some are staying at the Comfort Inn...
Comfort Inn
1501 Demonbreun Street
Nashville, TN 37203
615-255-9977

And some are staying at the Marriot. Sorry, don't have the address or phone number but Mike might be able to add that. Most are just making room reservations and then we'll sort the roomie situation out a couple weeks before and then cancel rooms as they aren't needed. But if you don't book now, there might not BE enough rooms.

I don't know exactly where the Oasis is....we have to figure out a meeting place!

Yeah, see, with camping you can have a bonfire, with all the Yaris owners sprawled out around it, eating burnt marshmallows and swigging beer or something. With hotels, you get a shower and air conditioning, but they don't really lend well to having a group fire in a room. Plus, I would think the hotel owners would frown upon that :P

I found a campground.
Its a KOA.
Its located in nashville, tn.
It would be a 35 min (more like 30 ;p ) to the meet from the site.
http://maps.google.com/maps?client=safari&rls=en&q=nashville,+tn&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&split=0&gl=us&ei=aPzCSfjYGtTKmQfugaHWCw&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&resnum=1&ct=image

they have tent sites....and cabins... they may or may not have AC! and a pool! :D
approxamately $60 a night.... for a cabin that sleeps 4.
orrrr a big kabin that sleep 6. $140
Rustic Kamping Lodges have a porch swing, full kitchen & bath, heat/ac, TV/VCR, outdoor grill, kitchen utensils. Bring your ownsleeping bag or linens. $100 refundable sec. dep. NO PETS.

these are usually very good, i stayed in a KOA campground at the beach, very nice.

I don't think so. I live here in Nashville, and there is no campground downtown at 8th and broadway. That's smack dab in the middle of downtown. I know this area very well. The closest campground I think you're gonna find is out near the Opryland hotel. I think they've got something out there. You need to check out your KOA source. Let me know what you find.

That KOA is about 15 - 20 minutes from downtown. Lot's of tourons out there. It's next to the Opryland hotel which is real cool, but expensive. That area is not what Nashville is really about but if you are wanting to camp, that's the closest place you're gonna find unless you go out east of town heading towards Lebanon. I think there might be some campsites out near Percy Priest lake. It will be a little more private out there. More state park like. Not so many tourists in their motor homes out to see "The Opry" and to shop and Opry Mills.

The Comfort Inn we have reserved is pet friendly. I do not plan to bring any pups with me, but always appreciate the hotels that allow pets. I am staying Friday, Saturday and Sunday and may be able to add Thursday night as well. There are others reserved to stay there as well.

Rates for Friday and Saturday are $129 each and rates for Thursday and Sunday are $79 each. I think a pet is an additional $10 per night.

Attention Nashville meet mod migrants. John and I were talking about the meet earlier and he came up with a concern as well as a brilliant idea for us all. Mike is having the BBQ and our concern revolves around the safety of every attending. John's idea was to get a van rental for that evening and see if anyone would volunteer to be a Designated Driver. We do not want to see anyone have their good time side tracked by a stupid mistake and end up in jail, hurting someone etc. I'd be more than happy to look into this and if no one volunteers, I'd gladly be the captain of that ship. We just want everyone to have a good time. Let us know

I am in Louisville too. I am going to try to go down with Jeremy. It all depends on what day he plans on leaving.

I've been looking at more areas to do a group photo if anyone is interested. Should be a ton of fun for everyone during this time. So many cars to see and so many new friends to meet and make. I'm hard at work on the T-shirts and I'm getting in touch with Chris today for the file, plus working on some other deals with the vendors.

Garm, I'll get with you about the Logo and the stickers, I have a quote finally

The members have chosen the winner. I still need you to send me that Vector file I've asked for so I can get a size preference and then I’ll be able to tell you the price etc. If you need my email again let me know
