After 40 years as a car owner, I have to ask: Are cars not made like they were back in the old days?!

I've had a Triumph Herald 1200, Mazda 1300, Mitsubishi Colt and now a Yaris.

During one year I have had the following problems with my Yaris:
1st Accelerator can get stuck
2nd Wheel nuts are rusting
3rd Rear brakes are rusting solid
4th Rear brakes subsequently howl and can not be repaired

Couldn’t one just get a good old VW that runs and runs without any problems?!?
