Oh, shoot, Kaotic, I didn't notice it was a very specific question about your friend. OK, let me try this again. If your friend is open to you telling him exactly how you want your car to be driven then yes. If you don't like your friend's driving style and you don't think he'll listen to you if you ask him to not brake hard, etc., just tell him you're not insured, or a car is like a woman, and you don't lend your woman not even to your bestfriend, or whatever BS you ca think of. Bottom line is that it's understood that some people don't like to lend their cars. His feelings may be hurt a little, but eventually he'll understand. Lots of people don't let you drive their cars.

my gf is in l.a., so i do this drive quite often alone (or with sleeping passengers) non-stop with just one cup of coffee consumed for the first half of the trip. but then again, i'm sorta entertained by the radio and somewhat busy with hypermiling.

I've let my fiance drive my car about 6-8 times.... all but one or two of those times were highway driving, probably because I didn't want to do an 8hr drive all by myself. 8 hr drives are not fun after getting off work.
I would also let my best friend drive my car for a week if he was ready to buy a new car... he wants to get a fit... but driving a yaris for a few days might be good for him too. My car has been driven (for more than 50ft) for only about 8-10 times by people other than myself. |

I let my friends with faster cars drive mine if I can drive theirs! I've driven all sorts of cars since I got the Yaris. Stage 2 Saturn Sky turbo was my favorite, although the clutch was a total PITA. When that thing hits boost, though, you better hold on!

I drove near non-stop by myself from Colorado Springs back here to Detroit, took around 23 hours I think. I will NEVER do it again because it was rediculously boring driving the i80 and more so is that it exhausted me so badly that I was passing out at stoplights by the time I hit Chicago. But that's a massive difference then from a 7-8 hour drive. Just load up on some snacks and a few good cd's, you'll be more then set dude.
