On other Toyotas it is attached to the master cylinder. I haven't seen it on the Yaris yet, but would think that it is in the same place.

I had stability control in my scion xb and the only time it ever was activated is when i was trying to get it to.. being that the yaris is such a small car with a short wheelbase i don't anticipate any problems with winter driving this year.

Just a note as a former stability control engineer - vehicles with short wheelbases are more unstable in yaw. It doesn't take much lateral movement to cause a high body slip angle, and anything over about 15 degrees is difficult for anyone but those with lots of experience to recover from. Just my 2c...
