ok i'm kidding but really though i'm not sure why everyone is so bent on protecting a freedom that ultimately just ends up getting people killed. that's really all alcohol does. but this is a tough one to call for me.

on the one hand i feel like as long as the government is allowing you to do it in your own home then what's the harm in taking it away everywhere else? except bars maybe. but on the other hand would that really do anything to curb drinking and driving or people becoming unruly at events that would normally serve alcohol. i'm sure people would just get extremely lit at their houses first as a way to get around this and then go driving drunk to their event of choice. and if they don't kill someone along the way they'll show up and be that drunk jerk regardless.

idk. i definitely see where the OP is coming from but like i said it's a tough one to call for me.

Doesn't seem like you are aware of Prohibition and the problems it caused.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prohibi..._United_States

It causes more problems to a society than having alcohol openly and legally available.

The key to preventing drunk driving is to increase the severity of punishment.

How often do you hear about people getting their 3rd, 4th, 5th, ect...drunk driving arrest/accident? All the time, right? How is it that they get that many chances to kill someone?

IMO, your FIRST offense should make your life suck for quite a while.
Jail for 3-6 months, no license for at least 2 years.

Your second offense should put you in jail for over 2 years, maybe 3. No license for 5-7 years.

Strike 3 should render you without a license for 10-15 years, including maybe 5 years in prison. Harsh, but well deserved for such stupidity and putting others lives at risk.

If these reasonable punishments were enacted, how many drunk drivers would you see?
