Easy, there, Kevin, we are different from them. Notice that his first concern was "giving up weapons". When one is raised in a culture where weapons are one's first concern, every other civil attitude is bent to the right. Because we are from a different culture, we don't understand this devotion. Note the difference between their pledge to the flag, and our pledge to the Queen: theirs goes on and on, ours is just 2 words.

We have to live beside the US, and they have lobbyists here whose job it is to convert Canada into the US way of life, ie, get rid of universal health care, promote guns, stop welfare, all that stuff that doesn't conform to the American Ideal.

If this sound harsh, it isn't meant to be, it is just the conclusions I have come to after dealing with the Americans, individually and politically, for 50 years. It is just something to keep in mind...

It's hard to restrain with such .. impossible arguements makes me wanna just rip my hair out at some of the most oblivious comparisons.

I honestly think wellfare shouldnt get taken away, but it should not be handed out so easy. OH this person decided to let their life slip ! It's our duty to take care of them! Just like handing money to first nations etc not to be racist because its basically the same thing as wellfare.

Ridiculous but thats for another day. Apologies to any offenses I've made.

Well, I'm glad the forefathers of America had the backbone not to lie down on their flanks with their tails tucked...guess the grit they showed then keeps us from giving our "pledge to the Queen" today. And I've also had a dealing or two...once when I was trying to get into Canada, to spend those nasty American tourist $$, the gentleman informed me that I'd have to pay to get in, and when I asked what the "fine" would be, he asked "How much money do you have?" ...wrong answer

United States was never able to Convert/Conquer Canada and Canada won one war.

Also - not protecting Canada or anything here seeing as I'm from Spain. But guess what - Spain was led by kings etc and we owned the world basically at one point.

Another arguement that doesnt make sense.

Not sure what the ancient history lesson of Spain's defeat had to do with Canada bending knee to England's queen today, unless it's tied to Spain's defeat at the hands of the English fleet centuries ago

Lol, Spains defeat. Thats why our religion and language still is influenced, and we still have gold etc that we got from years ago.

America doesn't even have it's name anymore, the forefathers were badasses. Now the one protecting its name are just jibber jabber.

Btw we defeated their navy, which is why we broke free of them and started conquering, Persians invaded Spain England helped Spain get them out - once cleansed noble blood marriages were made to try and form peace, Spain was unreliable allies because we didn't like England it was using eachother and getting along both ways, then Spain beat them.

I like how youre turning two superior countries in comparison as if you know I proved you wrong.

Have to say that this post is disturbing.

You're basically saying that less freedom is superior. That socialism is better. And you're proud of that?

I happen to be proud not to have to pledge to a King or Queen.

Even though the left is quickly grabbing all of our freedoms in America, we are going to fight like hell to keep them.

Weapons aren't our first concern, freedom and liberty is.

Drinking will never be banned from bars and restaurants. Obviously that would mean abolishing bars.

But I can foresee the argument for banning alcohol at sporting events. Reason being is that public intoxication is already illegal and a stadium of 40,000 people seems pretty public to me. Kind of seems like a double sided rule. Also, a sporting event is filled with kids who may be surrounded by drunks. You don't find kids in bars.

But ultimately, I think the law would be another unnecessary piece of legislation that takes one more bite out of freedom. I personally hate alcohol but regardless, such a freedom shouldn't be taken away.
