So what do you think of the new Google "+1" feature?

Has anyone tried it yet?

You can help beta test before they roll it out officially, it if you want:

Just sign into your Google profile and follow the instructions

To protect your privacy, and if you sign up with a new account, be sure your profile stays generic, doesn't contain personal info and be sure to disable the feature where it says "use +1 to personalize your search experience"

I think I prefer this instead of facebook's "Like" button, both in functionality and in meaning. Sometimes I don't necessarily "Like" what I'm posting about, but it's still worth reading up on (i.e. posting some news about the current Japan tragedy). I think "+1" carries a more neutral (and less "uppity") significance.

I know what you mean... the "LIKE" isn't always fitting.

I don't have a facebook so I'm not used to using those like buttons anyway, this is just something else I'll have to ignore on websites :(

google is starting to upset me. they are turning out to be like Apple and Steve Jobs. "what you see is what you get...and you must use our services and no...you cannot opt out"

I dont want to use latitude or picasa...yet it syncs to my android anyways even though id like it not to. it doesnt even give me the options of deleting the picasa or latitude useage. i enjoy the usefullness of smart phones but forcing options down peoples throat like apple or google does, is rubbing alot of peoples backs the wrong way, mine very included.

You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.

Really, that's odd. I don't use Picasa and Latitude is something I had to install myself, and even then, I only update when I feel like it.

My problem is with how the Facebook app has become completely integrated, and has access to basically all your data, and that is one you can't get rid of (well unless you root of course) but you can't blame Google for that one.

The +1 is not something that is mandatory. You can opt out or ignore it completely (for now at least) so don't worry.

Easy enough to ignore, really

Hold on there for a second. Please do a a little searching before bashing google.
I for one, hate Microsoft and Apple anything...yes, Google will become big brother slowly which i ALSO hate.

But...google gives you vast options unlike the competitors.
Google pretty much ALLOWS you to root your phone and DELETE latitude or picasa...or any other bloat software that comes with the Android OS.
Btw...i have gmail removed from my phone~ Freedom found only on an Android OS.

I probably wont use the google +1 since i opted to not even use gmail in the first place haha.

I Looooooove GMAIL. I've pretty much given up on outlook and the other email clients now, it's just GMAIL everywhere (except at work where they make you use Outlook :(
