While I don't think they are low traction eco tires, they are nowhere near as grippy as the top of the line tires most enthusiasts would choose.

Fr-s has 215-45-17....not exactly narrow for an OEM tire. Miatas only have 205 17's

Or maybe they know that 95% of owners will put on some new wheels and rubber anyhow :D

Oil change on the FR-S will be dead simple compared to the Abarth

Glad I could be of help
Honestly though, there's nothing like difficult or moronic maintenance to make me hate a car (how difficult can it be to engineer the vehicle for simple maintenance )I guess I would have to test drive both to see which one I prefer. Neither would work well for me, as having 2-doors and kids can get old quick

Doth thou even need to ask?
FR-S. The Abarth is cool, but that FR-s is just so sexy. |

They did. There is an article where the Toyota engineers explained it all. The wide tires of today are good for high horsepower cars, but the wider a vehicle the harder it is to make the car handle. Just look at how some of the autocrossers on here are doing against some really expensive cars.

Being from the Detroit area, I see TONS of cars that are unreleased, testing, etc all of the time from all of the manufacturers. I have to say that I'd go FR-S on this one. There's a person who drives an Abarth at my work and it looks good in person but it just doesn't do it for me. And the power just doesn't make up for it.
The FR-S needs about a one inch drop AT LEAST and it would be unbelieveably clean and smooth looking. My only gripe is the stealership markup. I watched a recent dyno and the FR-S is only putting down about 150hp or so, which after powertrain loss, isn't too bad. I hear rave reviews from some local owners about how it stays flat like no other in the corners and it basically does what you want it to, very controllable almost like the Rx8 (but I don't think it's as forgiving and easy to drive as that car). I'd do FR-S if you can get a reasonable price.

You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important. |

I went with an FR-S. It handles great stock, and stays nice and flat. It is a little tail happy, but it is some amazing fun.
