Good to know. For everyday driving (unless going away on a trip), I'm going to remove mine. I have tire sealant and am paying extra for AAA plus coverage (longer free towing range). I've never needed either within my metro, but they'd be available if need be. Normally painless and transparent ways to increase MPG = all good in my book. I just thought (not based on more than a vague hunch really) removing it wouldn't make any difference. I trust your judgement. I don't think you would write this unless you had noticed a difference (even if it isn't much). Come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I had to put the spare to use in a car.
