Distracted drivers

This is a video of a distracted driver I encountered while driving my Yaris to work this morning. Where I live this is all too common and had I been a typical tailgating speed demon that 90% of the drivers are where I live I would have rear ended this car. As it was I was just able to go around them and as I passed I see they are on the cell phone yacking away. Anybody else have any similar stories they would like to share?

I'm happy that a good number of drivers out there are sharp and vigilant. Kudos to you for being careful out there!

However, I wasn't so lucky (yes I still very much miss her! ): http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52481

Next time I encounter this Darwin Award winner, he will most certainly catch a savage beating (better from a judge than from myself).

Wow sorry that happened to you, so it was totaled? I have had three minor accidents in my Yaris the almost three years we have had her. The first one was right after we bought her I was sitting at a stop sign and a kid in an old beater runs into the back of me. Didn't do any real damage other than scuff the paint and put a couple of small creases in the bumper. Got 500 bucks from his insurance for that one. Then I get rearended again by a lady in a company pickup truck sitting at a red light. She claimed she was adjusting the scarf on her head...lol. This one did a little more damage to rear bumper cover and popped rear quarter panel over panel by door. A body man friend of mine put the car on a lift and didn't see any damage to frame or anything and pulled the quarter panel back out and it popped back into place. Got 750 bucks for that one from insurance. Last accident me and a girl was backing out at the same time at a Publix parking lot and we didnt see each other and touched back bumpers, no real damage just a scuff of paint. Its so hard to see with those huge b and c pillars on these cars. Neither of us filed a claim.
