What was your favorite 1980s subcompact?

I got to thinking about some of the earlier subcompact offerings. Things like the Toyota Starlet and early Tercel; the old Suzuki Swifts; Subaru Justy; etc.

Let me know what you think:

Personally, I'd love to have an early '80s Starlet (with a worked over 3TC); a Chevrolet Sprint Turbo (which was made by Suzuki, actually); or even a Mitsubishi Mirage Turbo ...

i had a 93 swift GLX (1.6L engine 96HP) it had power windows, power door locks and powered side mirrors... very interesting for a Suzuki Swift.

'84 Chrysler Conquest (Mitsubishi Starion in Japan). Growing up my best friend's dad had one. There weren't too many running around locally for some reason.

Agree! That guy I was talking about did some stuff to his (remember hearing a whiny sound so I suspect a supercharger) and beat a 5.0 in 1/4 at the LA County Raceway (R.I.P.)

my mom had a tercel that she had for many years. had about 170k on it and still ran great. too bad some idiot hit her and had it totaled. she was fine though. she said she would still be driving it if she could. when i got my yaris it brought back memories of her little car and now she drives a new corolla. i really liked that car because i could see over the dash when i rode with her lol.
