View Full Version : OFFICIAL Yaris SEDAN thread

I just want to start an official thread dedicated to pictures of your new US/CAN Yaris Sedan (not the CAN 4dr liftback). Color doesn't matter cause there's not enough sedan to start a thread for each color. If I ever consider to change the 2k2 Echo for a Yaris, I'll definitely choose the sedan because we need as much as possible of carrying space.
So... post your pics!!

Thanks. I am puttin on the NF210 springs Friday. I still have the 215 tires and are awaiting the results of going to a 205 or staying with the tires. My friend said it would be close, but I should be ok. They are not too wide in the inner fender they just stick out a little more towards the outside and I am paranoid they will hit the metal of the fender or rub the plastic. I think I am just worrying about it too much.

Considering than sedan Yaris is designed with 185 as stock, I agree than 215 is too much wider.

The tires them selves are not that wide I just think it is the difference between the stock offset and the +40mm offset that is coming into play. The tires on those rims are nice.

(its supposed to be on hold w/another dealer, they just haven't finalized what they're trading for it). i can't wait! we're trading in our honda element for the yaris - i'm really gonna miss it, but not the gas mileage and monthly payments! (they yaris is gonna save us close to $200 a month between the two)

This olive green really grow on me!! Look awesome. I always wondered what the hole in the front bumper was for, now I know! It's a hook to tow or attach the car.
That's funny because gauges are different in Portugal's Yaris and there's not tachometer even on the manual model. It's great because ALL Yaris available in Canada market have a the tachometer, even the base models of liftback or sedan.

And yea, glad i now know what that hole on the front bumper is for!
Amd yea (again), thank GOD all the Yarii, both models, in Canada have tachs on them! Even in an auto, Im used to always haveing a tach present in my vehicles, so its something i appreciate, even if i its an auto. on a manual, for me, a tach is a necessary

It rides a bit stiffer, but not too much. You'll feel the springs resist more... so in bumps and stuff you'll feel them resist.
It's nice to see there's some more Olive green car's out there. I've only seen two more here in Southern California.

I don't understand why you absolutely want to use 215 tires. Wider tires mean more friction to the road, mean less performance, mean less gas milleage, mean more chance to rub somewhere. As you can see, there's only cons and no pros my friend... :iono:

The difference is the stereo:iono: . I have the same setup as in Sergios pictures. It may be that yours is the "upgraded" trim. I know the stereo is different in the two. I do not have the power package in mine, only the convenience package. That may be the difference as well.

Wider tires also mean better handling on corners. I can fully lock out the steering wheel on U turns with no rubbing, and I thought weight was always the issue with wider tires and bigger wheels. my wheels and the stocks weigh almost the same. The overall height diameter and circumference is closer to stock then the 205, and the main reason I am hell bent on using them is the fact that I bought the wheels and tires off a friend and they are like $500 Toyo Proxy 4 tires. I will switch to the 205 if I need to, but I would rather not spend the money unless I had to. I am not a cheap ass or anything:smile:. Every custom wheel and tire shop I have went to here in Indiana and Kentucky tell me they will work. Now if I was putting 40 lb. 18's or 20's on there I would definitly kick myself in the ass performance wise, but 10mm isnt enough to cry about. I value everyones opinion on here , but in someway I just wanna post 215's will work because I know some people are debating on 215's.

Is that a good suprise or a bad suprise??? Well I put tehm on today and we have good news. I weigh over 300 lbs. and just went on a 200 mile road trip to see the old lady and there was no rubbing at all even hitting big dips and bumps on the interstate and Johnny I know U can vouch for me on this when I say some of these interstates in the U.S. suck and didnt have any rubbing. I can still fully lock out the steering wheel on u-turns and have no rubbing at all. Here is an after pic.

@sroberts: you dont need to buy the stock radio, just the trim piece, it was $67 when i got mine, the stock radio is pretty much the same as the integrated one, so just buy the trim piece when you are going to put in an aftermarket head unit :)

Something that is really weird, but the front sticks out alot further then the rear. Like the back looks like it is in the fenderwell like 2 inches more then the front so watch out when buying rims and tires because the rear goes into the fenderwell more and tucks. I had the ass end weighted down with about 1000 lbs total in the car before I lowered it and it barely rubbed on the side wall with the 215's so I would have probably been fine with 205's, but now the suspension is tighter. It feels alot tighter then 5% and looks like it drops more then 1.2 in the front. Even though it didnt rub with just me I am afraid to let anyone else ride. Getting the 205's is still in my head though. It will buy me some height and wheel well space, but for someone who is ot even close to 320lbs. like me then they will have no problems.
I was wondering about the radio being integrated...So all U have to do is buy the trim piece and it has all the airbag seatbelt bologna then get the kit for an aftermarket harness and dash kit?

Toyota has shown a remarkable ability to re-invent some of its products. When they wanted to come out with a more luxurious Toyota, they created Lexus. When they wanted to appeal to a younger demographic, they created Scion. And when certain models aren’t racing out the door, they push the “re-invent” button and see what comes out.
When Echo wasn’t selling as well as Toyota had hoped, the car was redesigned and remarketed as the Yaris, which may be classified loosely as a Toyota-branded Scion. Echo was a ho-hum compact sedan, but Yaris has a lot more panache that makes it more appealing.
During our test, we drove Yaris over our normal set of suburban and urban streets. We also took it on a 350-plus-miles road trip that delivered excellent fuel economy. The Yaris is rated at 34 mpg city/39 mpg highway. In a combination of city and highway (mostly highway, I’ll admit) we averaged 39.1 mpg. In today’s climate of overpriced gasoline, that’s outstanding. It’s also the best fuel economy we’ve attained in a non-hybrid.
Sure, the Yaris isn’t the fastest car on the highway, but it can keep up with anything else that’s driving legally out there, and with a couple who may be stretching the speed limit a bit. Where Yaris hurts is in acceleration. We didn’t exactly zip away from traffic lights and stop signs, and entering Interstates when the traffic’s at the speed limit can be a challenge. But we survived.
The 1.5-liter four is a bit buzzy at times, especially under hard acceleration. In general, the relatively noisy engine wasn’t a problem, though.
The engine is connected to the front wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission. I would have liked a manual mode to the automatic but it isn’t available. There were a couple of times when I would have wanted to downshift faster than the transmission’s logic decided I wanted to downshift.
Handling is good for a compact car. But since there’s so much transmission lag in the gearbox, the Yaris can’t be driven like a sports car anyway. Life would be better with a manual, I feel.
Aside from these small complaints, I felt the Yaris was comfortable for four passengers. The cloth-covered seats offered good side support up front, with more of a bench in the rear. The backs of the rear seats fold to offer extra cargo space from the trunk’s 12.2 cubic feet. However, we felt we had just as much usable space with the rear seats up and carrying stuff on the rear seat cushions, but then, we weren’t carrying long objects.
Like many cars that have Japanese and American markets, the speedometer and other instruments are center-mounted to make it more economical to switch the steering wheel from the right side to the left side. I didn’t like this in the Yaris. I kept looking at a blank dash in front of me to see how fast I was going or to check the fuel level. Once I realized I wasn’t using any fuel I forgot about that part, but it was still inconvenient to shift my eyes to the right for the speedometer.
The instruments were clear, though, with black-on-grey dials that were the same at night.
Both the driver and front passenger can take advantage of unique cupholders that pop out from the dash at the left and right extremes. These are deep and can hold a variety of cup sizes, including Starbucks Venti. Unlike similar cupholders that appeared a few years back on some American cars, these can’t be hit with your knees, unless you try hard. There are also smaller cupholders in the door pockets that are ideal for smaller water bottles.
There aren’t a lot of cubby storage areas, but one that I liked was the door pulls. These have bottoms in them that make the door pulls ideal as cell phone holders. The center console is deep and can hold six or seven CDs.
The HVAC system was simple, with three knobs serving all the functions. The audio system was different, but it was intuitive so you don’t have to pore through the owner’s manual to change a station.
Overall, the Toyota Yaris may, in this era of inflated fuel prices, be an almost ideal vehicle. It has room, adequate power, incredible economy and decent comfort for around-town drive or longer hauls as well.

Ya the legal limit in most states is 35-50%. Most cops dont care how dark your tint is unless it is really really dark like 5% or something. I have had mine at 15-20% in all of my cars and never been pulled over by any cops. Any place that installs the tint will not give you a receipt because they are held responsible, and 50% is not that dark at all.
oops, just realized you cant see my driver/passanger windows in my pics... ill post em up soon!!

fnkngrv, your car's color is amazing! This color is not available (yet?) in Canada. I always prefer "uncommon" colors, your one is great! I also really like the "olive mist" color.
Toyota just need a wonderfull "sunburst orange" color now! Something similar to my old Nissan Sentra SE-R 2004...

I know that this is a little late in response, but anywho...
The dealer wanted 350 for the custom painting of the interior and my wife became permanently disabled so priorities shifted....
As for getting the S, well I didn't want to sacrifice myself and they don't offer it in Maine so that is why I got mine in Minnesota....but I believe that the dealer got it from Wisconsin. I honestly think that I would regret not having my S every day if I had not gotten it...in all actuality I would not have even bought a Yaris then...I would have sucked up the cost and bought a Camry.
Here is my toy. :burnrubber:

PEPE, very nice!!! It would look better with the type S lip kit. Where'd ya get ya pedals at? My bro has big feet and he can barely drive my Yaris (only when he takes off his shoes) I think those would help out him lol.
Pepe, lookin gooood,I love a white car with black rims, keep up the good work.

Thanks, I personally hate the plates but most people in the states seem to like em. Id change em up but its a law over here that you have to use these plates that have built in id tags.

Thanks and like I said I used the glowshift one for the liftback and they basically just cut out the pods (one piece like the universal), bonded it to the A pillar, fiberglassed, sanded and painted. You also have to cut out the back side of the A pillar. Good luck with your project.
Thanks for the info. I know some people where im at that can do this quite cheap for me so Im deff gona try it out.

@derick: looking great, one of my fav sedans on this site. If im not mistaken, it was your pics pre hack where you were talking about the sedan looking like snuffy the airplane and how you wanted it to look more sporty (and you did) that made me hate my stock look and totaly agree on that point and then I went and bought a grill and eyelids like you had added lol. (if that wasnt your post my mistake). Anyways, worked out for the best

Nope, only the left is lit, which is how rear fog lamps are, only the driver side has light. My headlights are stock, that's how we have them here in the Philippines. Maybe if I decide to make my car US version we can swap headlights? :-) Tail lights, too are different.

Your car looks great too man! :)
fyi, In malaysia, we have 3 specs for vios - S,G and E. My specs is a S. same like yaris sedan S in europe version,. for S and G specs, Yes it was included with rear disc break and for E just have rear drum break. so, in US version, S specs not include with rear disc break? if u said, we're lucky, yes, we are. but, for US version, i like sedan 09 looks love the empty front grill!
About my ride..is not too new..lol., getting mine, on earlier april last year. Just have chance to change the rims and tyre last week. already drive in highway here for 8 hours. at first, its sounds very noisy maybe because of new tyre i guess. and the pickup is a bit heavier. then after a couple of days im getting comfortable with the spring, and rims. fun to handling, and feel like driving 'sports car'..lol. its more better than before i think!! .

I have a 07 Blk Sedan i got tinted windows, rims, sound system, GPS, Remote Starter, and on the way crome grill, crome door handles, crome altezza talilights, OEM fog lights, Red Interior carbon fiber, Blk TOYOTA front plate, but i think i might end up selling the crome handles i think its kinda to much.
but i also have a couple of questions 1.Is Installing fog lights hard? 2.how much could it cost me to have them installed? 3. What is a harmness? and how much it cost? is it really worth it changing my head lights to HD lights and how much would it cost me?

I agree and he has great taste in rims too! From the pics I can't really see the difference between his Lenso SC06's and my SC02's... Probably would need to have a set of SC02's and SC06's side-by-side.
I just noticed the intergrated turn signals in the side mirrors, is that something we can get here in the U.S?

Herbidical..u need to go back to page "13" where i post side by side my car picture :). Thanks man..i got taste?..lol. i think coz i am the designer. always with play with the design and color.
The different between Sc02 and Sc 06 i think is - spoke and the design itself
here is my silver Sc06(sc-r2)- http://www.lensowheel.co.th/raidenProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=SC06# - Actually, my center hole design is silver but i think black is better. so just change it..
here is your Sc02 - http://www.lensowheel.co.th/raidenProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=SC02#
think u can see the diff

Ha! I see the difference now. Your rims alternate with double spoke, then single spoke. Mine are double all the way around. Plus some other minor differences.

I know..it nice.
Hmm..want to tell u or not..actually, yes. it come with factory option! .im sorry if i make u sad man.
I just discover..why yaris/vios have a different exterior part between Asia, europe and US version.. i think because of 1) weather factor - in malaysia for example, we dont have winter here. Just got monsoon season on Oct-Dis.
2) Culture..didnt know its true or not. i think that is more reason. maybe u guys can add something.
