Nice cars! One thing for sure, the Yaris is taller than the Camry. I presume that the Camry has a lot of miles on it and is still going strong.

as400g33k
01-19-2006, 05:19 PM
tnx! the yaris is taller at the moment cos its got stock springs and wheels. changing those will lower it significantly i guess.

that camry has 210,000+ kms on it now and hasn't had any problems. last november, drove it from adelaide to sydney and back in a 3,000 km journey without any problems (except for a battery change, that is).

Yours is the first bayou blue Yaris I have ever seen on any forum. It certainly looks very nice. Frankly, I saw one at the dealer's lot about two months ago but was not too impressed by it. However, your pictures show that bayou blue can be a brilliant color too. I have changed my opinion completely. Happy motoring!

Forgot to ask about the nice looking alloy wheels. Are they an option offered by Toyota or have you bought them from an outside source? Oh, just found the answer I wanted from the "Lets talk wheels" thread. Again, nice wheels!

I gotta tell ya that bayou blue didn't really thrill me either. After looking at few colors I decided on red. Then I saw a black one and changed my mind. The black with the options I wanted would have taken more than a month to get, the red about 3 weeks. Then I told the dealer to try either bright blue or bayou blue. I was hoping on the bright blue. Wouldn't ya know that the bayou was available in about a day. Should have waited for the black. Anyway my wife and daughter both liked the bayou blue from the start, so it kinda turned out O.K.

Yeppers, thats the rally spoiler. I decided to spend the extra $100 because the regualr one isn't even big enough to hold a large coffee on. When the dealer tried to upsell me into the RS, he pointed out that it came with a spoiler. My reply was "Oh thats cute, a built in shelf for holding cups".

Since it's my first small car, I decided to have a little fun with it.

I think they came as part of the 'B' package I took when I ordered the car. I would have gone with the RS and added the rally spoiler, but I dont fit in the sporty seats too well. It felt like my shoulders where being shoved forward.

I do wish I had the leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob though.:frown:

yeah the rims are stock steelies for canadian winter. when i put my summer mags on i'll take more pics. As for the leather interior i ordered it from the dealership they had it on there option list. So i guess it a toyota option. but don't quote me on it.

hey guys, when i when to chose my car they has just got that option and it was on a showroom 5 door rs car. i was supposely the first person to get it for the yaris. Most buyers the yaris is just a eveyday car so why spend that kind of money for the interior and also in winter it very cold. Not all dealer have thsi option, the dealer i when to is a complete dealership with body, service, and there own aftermarket installer place, and is also an autorize trd dealership. I though all toyota dealership were. Not sure in ontario has this option. My total price for the car was 20,000$ fully loader, with rally spoiler & fog light on order, leather interior which includes seats, headrest and door side panels. Also with extra disability insurance due to the type of work i do. Minus my trade in of my paseo for 2000$. The orginal showroom car it was on is still at the dealership doesn't seem like the leather option is popular on for this car. we'll see at least i know i'm one in a million for now.

03-04-2006, 01:18 AM

I got my windows tinted at toyota for $350. the original price for toyota tinting (back 3 windows only) is $399. I was able to get only about $50 dollars off. The full frontal 3M protection is a clear plastic film that you can get installed on to the hood, front bumper, and side mirrors of the Yaris. It protects rocks damages to the front of your car. I got it done at High Line Auto Custom for $550. They did a really good job, and compare to toyota who charges about $900 for the full frontal 3M stonegaurd protection. It makes the car easier to clean, epescially from bugs on highways.

hoahmaru

That one should be the block heater plug.

that's correct. I want to ask the dealer to move it into the hood because I think it looks really ugly when it pops out like that. I tried to move it myself but I can't seem to locate where the plug is coming from. I'am a real novice at cars so I'll try to ask a professional to help me do it.

Yes the pictures are taken with the 3M installed. The 3M is only slightly noticable upclose, but from about 1 meter away you can't really tell it's there unless you look at it really close. In the pictures you can't even tell that the 3M is there.

I went to my dealership today to ask them how much it was to lower the car. They told me $514 including everything, but they also told me I had to get the wheel allignment as well which will bring everything to about $600. Just wanted to know if you had to get your wheels alligned or not? Just wanted to know if it is neccessary to do the allignment or the dealership is just trying to get more money out of me.

AFAIK, you have to get the car re-aligned anytime you to a height adjustment. That's one of the downsides to having an adjustable suspension - the need to re-align makes it a little less useful than it might seem at first blush.

No H, my dealer said nothing about wheel alignment to me. Same price $514, so I doubt if they included it for free. I saw the pics of Echo's car, and ordered the kit right away. BTW the car tracks straight as an arrow, and corners like a go-cart ........ and I mean that is a good thing.

ricko

Just read Idjiit's post and he makes sense, so maybe they did do the alignment. This was all done before I took delivery, so maybe the alignment was considered part of the dealer prep.

why?
04-17-2006, 07:31 PM
If it handles perfectly and the steering wheel tracks straight when you take both hands off the wheel then they definately did an alignment.

ricko
04-17-2006, 07:37 PM
Yup .... that it does. Best $514 I ever spent on a car! I wonder why the Yaris was so high to begin with? The car seems about right with the kit, not radically low at all. I have experienced no problems whatsever with clearance, and the roads around here are pretty bad.

the guy at the toyota accessories shop said that you will notice the alignment if your going at about 120km and up, otherwise it's not noticable.

 Very soon. There's just one thing in the way. I'm going on an Alaskan cruise with my wife for our anniversary in May, so I'm trying to wait until after that to spend any more money. It's very hard to wait!!

I think with the car being relatively small, they want to give owners the impression that the car is much bigger, hence the high ride height and seat height. It's hard to argue with that logic since it actually works. The Yaris "feels" very big while you're driving it, and it probably wouldn't with 2" lower suspension and 2" lower seat height.

The alignment is not included in the price of lowering springs, it only includes the install. You may not notice that the alignment is off since it doesn't necessarily translate into the car not tracking straight. Make sure to get it done otherwise you'll pay the price in tires down the road!!

so you really can't tell if the alignment if off or not after the lowering springs is installed? It just affects the car internally - like things you can't really see or feel?

riceboy
04-17-2006, 11:38 PM
Sometimes it can be seriously noticeable however other times it can be a slight difference in the toe, camber, or caster which can cause irregular or increased wear on your tires. Trust me it can be expensive, last summer I had some el cheapo shop do my alignment and by the end of the season I ended up with two run down tires... $400 later and I've learned a valueable lesson!

Ha! Are those speakers or your hidden jet engines?

I like the blue stuff on the inside, though the center console seems a bit much... just too much blue in one area, I think. Cool though!

One question: what is that thing across the hood? Is that supposed to be a bug deflector? I can't see a lip on it, and it seems awfully high on the hood to do any good.

Thanks!

When I picked it up the salesman told me it's now the 2nd most popular colour on the lb. The colour can really look different depending on the lighting it's in.

After four weeks of waiting I really forgot how small this car is! Sitting in my driveway it looks so tiny (neighbour said it looked like a "dinky toy" ). Still, everyone who sits in it can't believe how much room there is in the backseat.

Whenever I see the front of this car I'm reminded of a Pug (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pug). In a good way.

I'll post more pics near month end after I get the windows tinted.

I got the optional springs installed by the dealer. They're made by Eibach, I love them, they stiffen the suspension perfectly and give it a sweet ride height. I can't wait to put a nice set of light 17's and decent tires, mmmmm new rubber.

Yes, they are. I tried 18s, they looks even better but they rubbed the inside wall when you turn. Which I don't suggest to use them without adjust you camber and use firmer suspension. :)

Very nice ride Jola1...I wonder if you should take a picture with the sun hitting it so the color comes out better (no I'm not putting you down of the picture you have-just a suggestion.) But it looks nice and green is my favorite color. Does the color of your car have metallic reflective pieces in it? You know it glimmers in the sun depending how it hits it? Thanks for the picture!

Will take pics of my Frog once I wash it (again... I washed it yesterday). I got it tinted today so my "old pics" (one week old) are kinda useless and the tinting guy didn't do a superb job cleaning after him the windows (and sorrounding paint) outside.

Better pics.........catching the sun. YRX body kit here in Australia is great. Also got the 15" alloys and green tint on windows. Comes with 6 stacker CD/MP3....looks a bit different to some that I am seeing from Canada & US.

Here's my Yaris Sedan Flint Mica, will have better ones later. It's cloudy as hell out here. She's stock, but the fully loaded stock sedan.
Oh, and as you can see behind, that's the extent of my parking garage... I park right next to the green truck way back there by the expedition.... The 200 foot tree is right above . You can see the leaves sticking out...

Subtle enhancements will also be coming soon.

didn't spend much on it,
I just
1.)sprayed 4 Mazda Eunos Stock rims into white and put them on
**due to they are light and made by enkei**
2.)a 3inch muffler
3.)6000k halogen bulbs with blue parkers

future planning.

08-14-2006, 09:24 AM
its something called carribean blue (not sure the spelling is right or wrong)
i call it as grey+blue
YRS model
becuz i bought it in 05 Dec, so its abit more expensive than now, which cost me $24000AUD with paint protection, auto closing window(the windows close by itself when u lock the car) and additional alarm system
the rims, muffler, headlights are excluded.

Yeh i can see from the brochure. Your colour looks so similar too shadow. It was hard choosing a colour for the yaris because there werent that many in stock to browse at. I was offered paint protection too, nature guard and a heap of crap. Part of a big package. I think Ive seen your yaris on the street, because of the number plate... You paying $130 p/a for the plate. Add another $30 and get metallic plates.

I am paying $60 a year only for the white ones and personally i think white suits better than metallic,i love the silver letters on black metallic however it doesn't really look good.

i was wanted the dark silver colour, however when i went test driving,i got on this grey blue colour then i love it.

Maaaaan...that meteorite metallic is nice. They don't have that colour for the hatch up here in the frozen north...or maybe they call it 'silver streak mica', but I'm not sure. The toyota.ca site has weird colours on it (they don't match real life colours for me).

Aloha! Took a few more pics of my Ride with Diamond Head (Waikiki) in the
background. This is pretty much mods I will do for my Yaris. Its all stock and won't be doing any performance up-grades.But just gave her new wheels (17"x7-1/2") Vault Wheel (Bling Bling!) removed badges (easier to polish), Tint and new Tail pipe (Bling!). I know alot of you guys don't like bling bling, but as for me I like to be different and get a kick turning heads of other drivers and people. Especially when I'm cruising down Waikiki of going around the Island to check out the surf n' chicks! But, we all share one thing thats most important to us we love our Yaris!!! I alway honk my horn when I see another Yaris which is very rare since only a few get shipped to the island a month. But I just love this car so much and my wife gets jealous when I wash and polish it (LOL!)! Take it Easy & aloha!

oh I was down in hawaii 3 weeks ago... there was a blazing blue yaris I was staring at in the dealership everytime I drive pass it.. the one over by kamehameha hwy I think or maybe it was a diff hwy

I think your roads contain too many potholes to lower the yaris D:

Oh and nice bling ;)

Hawaiian Bluzman
08-27-2006, 01:03 AM
Kamehameha Hwy is the pretty much the main road that takes you around the Island. There are 2 dealerships on it, one is located in Kaneohe (Windward Oahu) and one on Wahiawa (Central Oahu). Yeah some parts of the road are really bad. But it's an election year and the politicians are repaving the roads...What a bunch of A-holes! LOL!

Hey everyone!! http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c155/brandi_n_pablo/emo_tongue.gif Wanted to share my new baby with ya! Not a lot of MODs yet, but have many many planned! Installed some Kickers in place of the factory speakers. Got 6 1/2 for all four but realized the back are smaller, 5 1/4", so gotta wait on the rear speakers. Sounds a LOT better already tho! From reading posts here and there, if you wanted to change your car to this color or any color other than OEM spec expect to pay upward of 2k if not more (very labor intensive at least for a quality job)...but remember you get what you paid for so if a deal looks too good to be true then it is...I guess my point is it better be a good job or after 3 months or so if you see the paint stripping or fading then you'll know...I'm not trying to discourage you just a friendly heads up!

That is definitely true! I figured it would be at least 2k. We have really good deals around here...but like you said, you get what you pay for. I will definitely invest a lot of time on researching body shops around here before actually going through with it. Plus, it wont be anytime soon because there is no need to repaint a brand new car. I just wanted to get a head start on my daydreaming about the future MODs I want to do. lol
