Just bought a 2010 Meteorite Metallic LB last week. I love it so far. I bought it as a daily driver to save gas and wasn't going to do any mods until I found this site. Now I have a list of stuff I want to do. My wife has a yellow 2005 XB that just turned 85k.
Welcome Palmer! Nice color choice!

Hi. I'm Jo and I just purchased a 2010 Toyota Yaris. It's a four door with a hatchback. I've wanted a Yaris since 2007, and this is my first car purchase. I originally had a 1998 Toyota Camry. So far, I love my car. I look forward to being a part of this forum.

My second post, sweet. New to Toyota with a 2010 yaris sedan, that metallic looking blue. I'm excited to explore my options with this tiny tuner. No real tuner experience other than minor mechanics. First problem was stability control and check engine light with SRI so that was taken off. Delivery driver here, so the gas mileage is f*****ng awsome.

Hi! Just found this place. I have had 5 Toyotas in the past, all purchased used (1971 Corona (my first car!), 1978 Corolla, 1982 Corolla, 1986 Corolla, 1994 Corolla). Just traded the 1994 (with 220K) in on a NEW YARIS!! My first new Toyota ever! I've been lusting after the Yaris liftback since I first saw one, and figured now was the time. I got a GREAT deal (not w/out significant energy being expended though, LOL), and Shark Bait (named b/c apparently that's what the bozo dealer thought I was--au contraire!) and I are now a couple.
Shark Bait is a meteorite metallic (i.e, grey) 3-door liftback, and a 5-speed. I'm anti-power anything, and it was HARD to find one w/out the power package. Didn't even want the convenience package, but it was impossible to find one w/out it. So I just refused to PAY for it, LOL, and I got all that (plus the "all weather guard" package) for free. I'll take it! :)
I've already learned something from being here - couldn't figure out why there was no mention in the owner's manual about replacing the timing belt -- apparently the Yaris's timing chain NEVER NEEDS REPLACING! I KNEW I loved this car!
Here's Shark Bait on the lot:

Damn, I could barely afford one car when I was an A1C! Of course, that was back in 1984, so things have changed a bit.
Good on ya for wrenchin' them Strike Eagles at the 4th, that wing has a long history that goes back to the Eagle Squadrons of WWII. It's a great unit and the E's are wonderful aircraft, but Hogs kick ass!
By the way, I was a maintainer during my enlisted days (81-87), got commissioned in 89 so if you plan to make a career out of it, take all the educational opportunities you can get!
And welcome to YarisWorld! If you ever get back down to San Antonio, let us know. Yes, I work at Lackland (as a contractor, I retired four years ago), but I have nothing to do with BMT!
Cheers! M2

It was easy. just unscrewed the old one and put on the provided post and antenna ... I do, however, have to remove it now in car washes. Since it is stiff, it got broken off my the car wash and I had to replace it. I wish I had gotten a more flexible one now...

Bought a 2008 Yaris sedan on Saturday with a 7300 miles. It was between that and a PT cruiser with 32000 miles. The gas mileage was the difference maker, it got my wife to agree to it. It seemed like it would take a lot of getting used to, but I'm adapting to it fast.
My previous car was a 1991 Civic, the Yaris feels bigger, partly because you sit higher, and partly because although the two cars are about the same length, it seems there is more room for people. The car should be big enough for the three people in my family (I don't see my family growing any time soon).
My car lacks power windows, power locks and cruise control. I can do with out them. My Civic had cruise control, but the cruise control had been broken for years, so I did without anyway.
Before the Civic, I had a 94 LeBaron convertible. It was fun, but was wearing out pretty fast. Before that I had an 87 Chevy Sprint. It had a lot of transmission problems, I drove for a couple years without having second gear. Plus the heater didn't work, and I was driving in during some very cold winters. Prior to that, I had my first car, a 73 Celica. That was a nice car, I wish I had fixed it up and kept it longer.
So, I expect to have this car for a very long time.

welcome and good choice  . Are you aware the sedan has seat height adjustment ? I take it that you bought the manual 5 speed . If so , you should be able to achieve 38 plus miles per gallon quite easily . Enjoy  .
QuantumIguana
03-22-2010, 03:03 PM
I got the automatic. I didn't realize that the seat height could be adjusted. I think I will leave it as it is, I'll get used to it pretty fast. It does seem larger on the inside, maybe it's really a TARDIS.
I do wish I had the owner's manual though.

Hello all,
Just considering the purchase of a Yaris... Well, my mind is pretty much made up. I rented one for a long week-end a couple of years ago, and was thoroughly charmed (and couldn't believe the gas mileage!).
Still dithering though about the various options. Will probably post the odd question over the coming days...

Wahoo! I'm a proud new owner of a 2010 3Dr LB, 5 speed, Meteorite Metalic. I've been thinking about moving from my Neon to a Yaris for some time now and pulled the trigger today. This is a fun car! It's amazing how roomy it is inside for how small it is outside. I commute 90 mi. round trip / day and I'm looking forward to the improved mileage after breaking it in.

Here are my recommendations:
All-Weather Guard Package -- includes larger window washer tank with low-level warning lamp, heavy-duty heater, heavy-duty starter and rear heater duct
Convenience Package -- AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability, auxiliary audio jack, satellite radio capability [1] and CD text display function, 60/40 split fold-down rear seat (Liftback adds sliding/reclining feature) and 15-in. steel wheels with full wheel covers (Liftback adds rear window wiper)
Power Package -- includes Convenience Package plus power door locks and power windows with driver's auto-down, power outside mirrors, engine immobilizer [2] and remote keyless entry system (Sedan adds integrated audio face plate)
You can add the sport package too and they you will have all there is and still pay less than for any other car with similar options... not to mention unbelievable gas mileage.

I have never been a person that has pride in their ride. Bluntly speaking, I've always regarded my car as a means to get from A to B. However, recently, I've become more proud of my car. Now, I want to make my little car look nice and run better.

Anyone know how I can find out details of the factory in Japan where my Yaris was actually made and by whom in the car plant?
Eon's ago (1985-89) when I worked with Japanese companies in the UK, NEC & Ricoh, each product had a traveler history card that went down the production line. I expect today it would be some kind of computer record.
Just thought it would be kinda neat to see the faces of the people who made my car. Any suggestions where to start that search?

HI! I just joined. I haven't got my Yaris yet but hopefully in the next month. I am (hopefully!) getting an '09 sedan. I wanted a '10 Mt sedan but the dealer is not really working with me so I found an Auto that I am happy with - has much more in it than the new one I wanted and I can afford to pay for it in full.

Hey Yaris forum!
I just bought 2 cars in 2 days! My wife totaled her 03 Mazda Tribute a couple of weeks ago, right when I was in the middle of my new car search.
Long story short, I had been looking at Yari for a couple of weeks. I took her down to the Toyota dealer and she test drove a corolla and loved it. So we got it.
The next day I went down and picked up my new baby. A 2010 barcelona red sedan with the power options and cruise.
Our garage smells like the dealership showroom now!
Nice forums, I look forward to reading bunches.
Cheers,

Oils branded by car and other equipment manufacturers are just made by various oil makers to a specification. The company that will do it for the lowest price gets the contract. May vary from batch to batch in the same year. Depends on the terms of the contract.

Hello, New here and thought I'd introduce myself.
Got a 2010 5 DR in Bayou Blue in Late OCT. My Wife (who is from Japan) had her old Camry die on her and she decided it was time to let it go. So I looked and decided lets go get a Yaris. The reasoning on Why a Yaris is because she had a Vitz when she lived in Japan and Loved it. So I took her to the Dealer and Walked out a New Owner. It came with quite a Few Options already But I can never stop adding OEM items. It's an Obsession. I read on here about the Cruise control Install and I'll be doing that soon. I also And getting the Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror. She want to Tint the Windows too So that'll be on the List. So I'm glad there's a ton of great Information and knowledge here.

Hi everyone I just signed up and I'm trying to figure this place out.
Not much of a computer guy so this is a first for me.
I posted some pics from my computer and they turned out really big, can anyone tell me how to resize them?
Also I just tried to create my garage and it didn't seem to load, wondering if the pic sizes had anything to do with that.
We Have two '07 Yari...a Liftback and an S Sedan.
Bought the Liftback new 7/06 when gas was $3.55 and climbing, probly the best purchase we ever made!
We were so pleased in fact we bought the Sedan 5/07 and never looked back!
The Liftback got a custom paint job last summer and the Sedan is in the shop as I write this! I'll post pics as soon as it gets done.

Backstory: Liftback project was intended for my daughter hence the flashy scheme....Wife drives it for now and the plan is when we get another vehicle the daughter will inherit the "JuneBug" for college.....
The Sedan is mine....I'm with you I kinda lean toward the Sedan lines...but I gotta admit I still love the Liftback lines too so for me itz almost a tug-o-war!

Tein S-tech Springs with Stock shocks combination.
Hi to all!!
I am quite new to this forum and i bought my car since 07/08. I am kind of late to be a member. Anyway, I have an inquiry about suspension which is i know it is been a question by many already. I really want to make sure before i proceed.
What can you say about using The Tein S-tech lowering springs with the stock shocks?? Right now, i dont have the budget to buy the shocks yet but, I already have the springs. Although, i bought the springs used roughly 2 years old one of the members here?
1) Is the springs to soft or to bumpy if i use the stock shocks with this springs?
2) Does tein S-tech springs sag a lot??
3) Are the stock shocks a good combination for the TST springs? or a must that i buy a new shocks?
4) do they last? becauseby the time i bought the shocks, teh springs is no longer good?
5)what can you advise will be the best shocks that i can buy that is really good to the budget for a bum like me which of course can deliver long lasting performance.
Appreciate all your feedback in advance guys!!

I've owned a few cars in the past. Started out with a 1995 Ford Escort wagon, moved on to a 1990 Buick Regal (for 3 days). Next up was a 1994 Eagle Talon, followed by a 2004 Honda Civic Si.
I sold my 2007 Mazdaspeed 3 last year to purchase my 2001 Mustang GT. She's a true daily driver, rain, shine, and yes, SNOW. I also have a 1999 Jetta that will be replaced by a new or slightly loved 4/5 door automatic Yaris. I rarely drive the Jetta, as my girlfriend uses it for her transportation. I'm expecting the Yaris to be similar in this aspect. If I like it enough, I'll buy a second one for myself, a 3 door 5 speed.
Pictures are links to larger images.

So, just got home from the dealership. Jetta is gone.
In its place, a 2008 Jade Sea Metallic Yaris Sedan. Automatic, power windows, AC, etc... 39000 miles for $10350. They were asking $13295 on the webpage and I had it down to the $10350 before I even made it to the dealership, just by calling them on the phone. I would have settled at $11k.

Hai!
im just starting to get interested in modding my Yaris. You will probably see me around here a bit from now on.
My YRS is all factory ATM but am looking a doing a few things to it in the not too distant future. Rear discs, new wheels, new lights and what ever else i can get my head and wallet around. (I'm totally new to car tech but am learning fast! Be warned, I'm likely to ask a lot of seemingly dumb questions.)

Hi all! I'm Rachel. I've been an owner of a Black Yaris HB since April 2007. Everything on my car is currently stock but I plan on making a few small modifications in the near future. I'm pretty stoked on finding this community. I'm in awe of all the beautiful Yaris'.

I was driving through nearby town yesterday afternoon after visiting a bike rally and saw another yaris! Don't have very many around east Texas.
First thing I noticed was the blue... then I noticed the yellow racing stripes and decided they needed an invite to yarisworld.com
And then after leaving a paper with the yarisworld.com tucked under the rear wiper I noticed the rear emblem had been tinkered with. It say's Jarvis!
So... Jarvis, if you got my note and u come here. WELCOME! Glad u made it. If not... Maybe I'll see u around town....

Sawasdee krub! Greetings from Thailand.
I've been driving my Yaris for 4 years. A few months ago, while searching for modifications for Yaris, I came upon the DIY section of Yarisworld. After having done some modifications to my car (by myself), I think it'd be better to share my Yaris with the world.
Pleased to meet you all.

New to-be-owner here. Internet is a wonderful thing; I am in the process of buying a 3 door and this website has already saved me $$$. I was looking for a MT with cruise control but thanks to you guys, I learned that I can just install the factory CC myself. So now I can get a 2010 instead of a 2011. THANKS!!!
p.s. I decided to get one with the power package.
Welcome! Glad to hear we could help. :)

I just bought a '08 2dr. LB, 55Kmiles, 5-sp.,one owner S/N, for $7975.00. I did my research here first, the site was very helpfull, and really got me revved up about the Yaris! I was already a huge Toyota fan, my other ride is a '89 All-Trac, the little all wheel dr. wagon, my second. It gets 32 MPG combined, and my friends with Subarus can't believe I wasn't happy with that!

My 2002 Jetta GLS TDi died with "only" 236,000 miles on it. Many small issues before this. Needed way better reliability due to commuting length and long work hours. Picked up my 2010 Yaris sedan the other day and really am impressed with the overall refinement of the car. Also liked the 0% financing ;-) ..Hope to put many more (trouble-free) miles on it than the VW.
Might look at some new rims/tires a bit later once my wallet recovers !:w00t:

Hey guys nice to have join this forum, I hope we all can get along. I purchase my yaris in 09 it is a four door hatch back. the mods i have done are c-one front bumper (i was involved in a hit and run, bastard took out my front end and this was cheaper than getting a new oem setup so why not :D), trd 18" rims, HID, and converted to e85 just for a little more juice :D future mod are trd axel back, trd CAI, in dash navi/mp3 player touch screen, a good sound system, tint, top mount bike rack, and fog lights. This is my DD and family car as of now :D So no big plans.

if you want a little more power and without the injector and tune upgrade you can use one from change2e85.com although you won't be saving much on gas since our cars is already a gas saver but it does have a little more pull to it :D also e85 have like 105 octane rating and is cheaper than reg :D good advantage and it burns cooler as well.

Been on here for awhile and I have to say, this is awesome! I'm used to building HotRod's and 4x4's and modifying everything so this forum is right up my alley.
Ever since I modded little Fiat's in Europe when i was in my 20's I've always wanted another small hatchback car.
Thanks to YarisWorld it has been a blast.

Yaris Sedan from KY, rollin in Goose Creek, SC. Good to see this great database for the do-it-yourselfers. Had mine since 07, still runnin like a banshee.
Hi all. Eli chiming in from nothern Utah. I recently found a good condition bayou blue '07 liftback. I spent a few nights doing tokico reds/micro image springs, 23mm swaybar, scangauge, radar hardwiring, black emblems, afe intake, and Tanabe medallion touring exhaust. I cut off the stupid 5" tip (because I don't have a fauxhawk) and replaced it with 2.5" tubing. It's going to be a great car....just like all of you I'd love 50 more horsepower, but what's new?
I'm a bit of a track junkie, and the car will see just a little bit of time there. Most of it's life will be just for regular transport and hooligan fun.
