got a 2008 yaris hb w/12k miles, took it to dealer last year to have checked for over rev due to not going into 4th gear when engine is cold. Shifts fine when its warm. dealer mechanic said all the toyotas do this even the camrys, does anyone have the same problem here? Since the car is NOW past the 36 month or 30k mile I probably have no options but would like to know if it is characteristic of the yaris, Also downshifts to 3rd on 45 degree downgrade if traveling 50 mph or less

That is normal. The Yaris has a 4th gear prohibition mode that makes it warm up quicker. Once the tranny fluid and coolant are up to temp the tranny is allowed to go into 4th.

The downshifting is also normal.

Hi all, I did not see this section or I would have posted here first.

Just bought an 08 2 door for $6k. 80,000. miles. I'll post a pic later.

The PO was not big on spending money on PM. He also had poor taste in tires. It had Chinese tires on mis match 14" steel wheels. I replaced them with 15" steels and Michelin Defenders in a stock size.

Now handles like a dream. Changed all the fluids and ordered a Pioneer HU and Alarm.

Was going to drop in some HID's, but the Yaris has a really beautiful pattern with Halogens, so I just order a couple of pairs of Osram Night braker plus H4 bulbs, and I'll make up a relayed harness for proper voltage at the headlights.

Nice forum, althoe not nearly as busy as the Land Cruiser forums.

Hello, new to the forums, not sure how much I'll be posing here but wanted to check it out.

On Friday I became the proud owner of a 2012 white 5 door hatchback yaris on Friday. It's my first car, (I'm 23 and only got my license last year. I was afraid to drive ㅜㅅㅜ) Her name is GlaDos and I've stocked her with companion cube plushies, and I'm waiting for my window decals then I can invade the pictures forum with my baby!

First time car-buyer! I've been eyeing up Yarises since the first time I saw them in 2007. Got a pretty good deal and finally sent it on a 2013 (contrary to many here, I really like the newer look) Manual SE. First time stick-driver, definitely exciting. Here is the handsome little man, stock:

Installing some side body molding and tinting in a week or two. So glad to join the Toyota family, and this community seems great! :)

How's everyone doing with weather conditions like Snow and/or Wind. Find I can't go as fast as I'd like too.

Hit 70 with 20 miles an hour wind, and I'm being pushed around.

This is my first car forum and also my first ever Toyota. Just bought a 2009 yaris sedan S. It has 30k miles on it and Im 37.6 mpg and trying to get even better with improved driving habits. I've had this car for about a month and I'm diggen it. Fun to drive and looks good(blue). Its a plain jane car with automatic tranny. The moment I laid eyes on her I knew I was going to buy it. Anyways hello to all you YARIS folks, I like this site and happy driving to all.

Hello guys!

I bought my silver, 5-doors, '07 Yaris E A/T roughly three months ago. It has 43000-ish miles on it but still runs like a dream.

Still stock as of now but I'm planning to grab that sexy Ing's+1 bodykit and a new set of black rims.

Here's a pic of the little fella:

Hello everyone!

New to YarisWorld...from South Africa.
Great forum, great info...all for a great car!

Both the SO and I, are Toyota nutters...

My SO has a Black 2009 Yaris TS - (I helped to convince her to buy it ) bought as a demo model.
It's a great car, with all the features and functionality we could ever need. I love driving it, particularly with the TRC and VSC disabled... :burnrubber:

My current cars:
1. 1970 VW Beetle - my first car - it was all I could afford at the time...lol. Still have it...want to make it a Toyota-powered drag car one day.

2. 1994 Toyota Corolla 180i (AE93R, 7A-FE) which is my faithful, reliable, daily drive. It just keeps going...does not know the meaning of the word "quit"

3. 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder (ZZW30, 1ZZ-FE) which is my n/a TODA 20v track project.

Will upload some pics soon!

Cheers for now.

looking forward to exploring this site more. :P

I've owned a ton of cars but she's my first brand new car... I'm so happy I got her.
I'm grateful for Enterprise and the fact that they gave me a Yaris.
I would of never known how amazing she was if it wasn't for them.
I'd test drove 10+ cars and couldn't decide until that moment.

Hello all,

Just recently picked up a 2008 Barcelona Red Yaris Sedan, Standard Trans., Certified Used from Toyota. Had some issues with the car initially but since it was certified everything was taken care of free of charge. Initially fell in love with these cars while working at Hertz (I'm a mechanic), and always wanted to pick one up. Now I'm commuting 50 miles round trip to my new job and figured it would be the perfect car to pick up. Haven't really ironed out all the kinks yet with the car, but nonetheless have quickly fallen in love with it. Still getting used to this drive by wire system (first one) and also this damn quirky idle, lol.

I am new to this forum but not new to internet forums as a whole. I always sign up to forums for whatever car I own at the moment for access to the database and other people knowledge/experience with that specific model. I will most likely be doing a lot of trolling and helping when I could, and I promise, no "how do I beat my buddy's STI" threads..........

Just wanted to officially introduce myself, cheers all

-Jay

I bought a used 2007 Yaris sedan in Feb of 2012 for my wife. I found this forum recently trying to diagnose a strange noise from my pulleys. I figured I'd join because my wife gave me reign to customize as I wish - - - but there is a catch :bonk: she gets to buy a beetle.

So far I have replaced the stock headlights with Spyder projectors and I have a set of eyelids on order.

Some future plans are:

2 Din receiver w/speakers
Wheels
Rebadging to my liking

Any recommendations on cost effective beginner mods?
Also, where should I begin with performance mods?

The interior is pretty big - I just turned over 4,300 miles when I pulled up to my morning coffee stop today. That's since April 11, 2013 - will be 6 months driving mine the October 11 - Mine has been flawless & I still just love driving this little car, it is so awesome. I drive around here usually 45-50 mph and as you can see by my fuelly signature below, the mpg's have been great. I have not even taken it on a steady 65-70 mph interstate drive yet, that should bump the mpg's up a lot. POST PHOTOS!
Enjoy the Yaris & WELCOME! :headbang:

The gas mileage is GREAT! I fill mine every 3 weeks or so depending on how much 'extra' driving I do - and that's at a 1/4 tank or a little less left. High seating, nice controls, still lovin' this car even after all these months...always am kinda excited to get it it and drive.

I dislike the A-shaped rear pillar on the 4-door 3rd generation. So, from side view, I think the 2-door looks pretty good. Nevertheless, I just couldn't live with the pinched-nose front end, the big chrome rear garnish, and those super ugly ill-fitting rear tails!

Last month, I bought a used 2008 Yaris. Since i didn`t know when the last oil change was made, I made myself an oil and oil filter change. I used Mobil 1best quality full synthetic. Browsing on Internet about Yaris engine, I stopped by this web page: http://www.gobookee.org/get_book.php?u=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zZXR0cmFpbmluZy5jb20 vY29udGVudC9jb3Vyc2UtY29kZXMvMTJfMDdfSFNfVG95b3RhX 0VuZ2luZXNfYW5kX1N5bnRoZXRpY19PaWwxLnBkZgpUT1lPVEE gRU5HSU5FUyBBTkQgU1lOVEhFVElDIE9JTDogV0hBVCBZT1UgT kVFRCBUTyBLTk9X.
It looks like an official Toyota paper listing their car models intended for using synthetic or conventional oil. The Yaris model falls under conventional oil.
Does that mean that synthetic is not good for 1NZ-FE engine or just that synthetic is overkill for this engine?

Cool car to have and I like my 4 door '13 lift back. It will work well of what I need it for. As far as getting together with another person in my area is tough. I think I might go to the local Friday night car show and see if there's anyone there. If anything, I'll be part of the local tuner crowd.

Hi everyone!

Got my Yaris this Saturday. (Also) liking it so far... but I've already has something strange happening to me...

Anyways, it's an european 2007 model Yaris XP9F with the 1NR-FE 73kW gas engine. It has 14k kms, so it's practically new. I'm already noticing a big difference in engine responsiveness just by having added 1000 kms to it...

So... strange thing that happened... Tried to turn it on this morning and it wouldn't turn on. Electrical part turned on normally, just when I turned the key to start the engine nothing happened! It was -6 degrees outside... So I'm thinking... either there's some strange warming up phase that I don't know of... or the clutch sensor is not working very well... or I don't know...

I popped the hood to see if there was something strange in the engine compartment... like some burned cable or whatever... didn't find anything, so went back in the car, shifted into 1st gear, tried again and voilà, it started...

But what do you guys think it was? And where should I post this? I didn't find any "mechanical problems" section... and also... I bought the car in Germany, where I am living at the moment... but I don't know German at all :p so if someone could provide a link for the english version of the car manual that would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks!

My bet is the clutch switch.

Yes I would say so too!

Anyways, no I've been doing it in a very procedural way... get in, turn on the electric stuff... clutch pedal to the metal... turn engine on, and so far no problems. We'll see!!

All the best :)

Hello Yarisworld, I purchased a 2010 Blazing Blue Toyota Yaris 3 door liftback with a 5 speed manual shift transmission at the end of November. I was looking at purchasing a used Honda Fit since they always receive such high marks but the one thing that I would always read about was their not so stellar fuel economy. A 1.5L I-4 should get better then mid to low 30's advertised, and when reading online owners were reporting around the same. Im a field service technician for Dell and some days I drive 200+miles. The main reason for purchasing this vehicle was to use for work and so I needed a car with great fuel economy but also cheap as I pretty much have it in the back of my head that this car will get used hard and will be replaced in about 4 or 5 years. I also wanted something low tech, no hybrids and it had to be no older then 4yrs old. Im so glad I discovered the Yaris, for some reason there are almost no Yaris in my area and I love that. The Yaris is good to me, returning almost 50mpg and almost 40mpg city driving. So far I have painted the stock hubcaps flat black, replaced the stock antenna with a carbon fiber TRD 6" antenna, Garfield Just Clinging Around stuffed animal in the driver side rear glass, WeatherTech floor mats for the front, Infinity Kappa 6.5" F+R, clay bar, waxed it about 3 times, and I have a bottle of Toyota Touch-UP Paint to use soon. Im in the middle of my stereo system build right now and have a Pioneer DEH-80PRS and JL Audio XD400/4 on the way. The 10w7 and black 600 watt JL amp will soon follow. Thats all for now. Bye!

Welcome! I would be interested to hear what you find for real-world fuel economy with the start-stop.

Ok -Ill do a complete fill-up tomorrow morning, and after a week or two of "normal" driving I will likely have emptied the tank and Ill find out exactly how many litres I used and report back.

One of the reasons I bought the car was because Toyota's mpg figures for the 1NR-FE engine were so great, and I do about 46miles per day Monday-Friday.

Hi, my check engine light is on. The Error Code P2420. What does this error code mean?

P2420:
Evaporative Emission System Switching Valve Control Circuit High

Causes:
- Canister pump module (Reference orifice, leak detection pump, vent valve)
- Connector/wire harness (Canister pump module - ECM)
- ECM

The most likely one is the evaporative canister, which is the rectangular black box under the back of the car.

Hi All,
I picked up my white 2008 Yaris LB last month, the fifth Toyota in our household (two Corollas (my wife's current car is a 2003 Corolla), a Celica GT, an Echo, and now the Yaris). I think you could say we suffer from brand loyalty...

Cool! :w00t: Japan's cars always has a lot of extra features compared to other countries'. here in Manila we do too, but the conversion to the steering kinda holds us back and limits the sales. (it's LHD here unlike in Japan/NZ)

Long time listener, first time caller. I've had my Yaris for about eight months now and have lurked around here since then. I've enjoyed the wealth of information on this site. And CTScott's crashy. I'm so very jealous of crashy and want one of my own.

Bought an '08 3 door liftback used in Meteorite Metallic Silver. Wasn't too fond of the color at first but it's grown on me now. I've taken it on a few road trips now and it's been a dream every time. I never thought I'd be the kind of person to grow attached to a car, but there is something lovable about the little things. Now I'm coming up with little things to do with it to really make it my own.

Hello from a new Yaris owner in Melbourne, Australia. Just picked up a 2010 5 door with the 1.3 engine. I bought this car so I had something quiet, comfortable and wallet friendly to get me to and from work. I also have a 1992 Isuzu MU 4x4 for hauling things and getting off the blacktop from time to time. Past cars I've owned are '79, '84 and '91 Honda Preludes, and a 2002 Mazda MX5. I've worked on all of my cars, especially the 4x4, but I probably won't have to do much on the Yaris, but I enjoy reading about people who do, especially the mad ones who put turbos in these :-)

I swear I've already posted this but it's disappeared... anyhow, new Yaris owner here in Melbourne, Australia. I have a 2010 5 door hatch, bought for commuting in an economical and comfortable fashion. My DD for the last year has been a fairly agricultural 4x4 ('92 Isuzu MU SWB) so the Yaris feels like a Rolls Royce to me :-).
Loving it so far, I do work on my cars too so hope to catch some good tips here. Past cars include several Honda Preludes (4ws is the best!) and an NB MX5.

Hi, I have just bought a brandnew yaris 1.33 vvti with manuel transmission. I have been driving the car for two weeks. While driving, I have noticed strange back vibration, and it is uncomfortable..I would like to know if this vibration is normal..

Plus, while the car is still, ıf u push back side of the car, back of the car vibrate for a couple of seconds and then get stand still. I guess this motion causes the vibration feeling during driving. ı feel confused...

I'm new to the site, too. I am honing in on the new 2015 Toyota Yaris for a possible purchase. I like the YouTube videos of the car in red, white and blue colors. Hey, remind you of something there?

Yeah, one of the things I like about the little car are the reports about it having a comfortable ride. I'm looking in to getting a job in Flagstaff, Arizona and a house in Sedona, Arizona. Snow falls there a little bit but not too much. The Toyota Yaris seems to be a great fit for this part of the state...wide open, long stretches of highway. If the car gets near 40mpg on the highway then that would be great!

Happy to be here - I'll be spending a lot of time here for sure and I hope to learn a lot about this cool little car.

Ok, 1st post on here. Bought a brand new 1.33 Vvt 6 speed manual in 2010, 5 door. The car never missed a heartbeat in the 3 years I had it. Its final year was spent entirely in France. I had no real problems using a RHD car in a country that drives on the right. Reluctantly sold it having lost my job out there.

Anyway, I'm back in the UK now and earlier today test drove a used version of the same car. Mine had stop/start, this one (late 2009 car) doesn't, but it does beep if I drive it backwards, oh and it has that very much in your face digital odo. Car is spotless inside and out, and the garage will service and MOT it before I pick it up in a weeks time or so. Sweltering day and noticed the aircon not doing much on the test drive. They promised to re-gas it for me.

My 10 Reg car was so perfect, I'm crossing my fingers that this used one (December 09) will prove as trustworthy.

Glad to discover this forum.

Alec.

Well I just purchesed a 2007 Yaris Liftback Base model with 23,000 miles in basicaly brand new condition. I never thought I would be buying a Eco car but I was looking at adds and found this one and after researching it a bit I thought I would give it a shot.

A little background on me, well I own a 98 Deville D'elegance with the Deathstar V8 (Northstar) and love it but it has some problems and needed something to get me to work and better on fuel, the Cadi gets 17mpg I drive 50/50 city/highway. I also own a 99 Dodge RAM 2500 4x4 with a V10 wich stands for 10mpg:headbang: but it is a working truck not for commuting.

I have owned a lot of cars (about 40) from beaters to newer cars like a Dodge Charger R/T (loved it) but I am impressed with this little car, I filled the tank and been driving all over the place and just hit 240 miles at a half tank, in my Cadi I would be looking for a gas station and dropping another $60. Its nice not having to go to the station every 4 to 5 days. I think I can make it two weeks on a tank.

2012 sedan is identical to 2011. Only the liftbacks were updated in 2012. For 2012 the sedans became a fleet sale only car, so that is why aftermarket accessories only list compatibility to 2011.

Glad this forum is here. I'm running into a problem though. I've searched the forums but havent found my answer. I swapped out my reverse lights and rear turn signal blinkers with no problem. I had to shave off the post of the turn signal bulbs (as read in a DIY forum) and they they worked fine. As soon as I went to my front headlight turn signals, I shaved a post, installed, then it kept blowing the fuse. Any ideas on whats going on here? I put the originall bulb back in and it works fine. So did I just blow my new LED bulb or is there a bigger problem?
Thx,
Mike

Hey Guys & Gals! Thank you for the warm welcomes. I'm happy to find this forum. Recently a few mice have nested in my A/C ducts. I took the car to Toyota and they said it would cost 1k to remove the dash and clean out the ducts and remove all the carpet nesting. I'm looking for a 2011 Service Repair Manual so I can figure out how to remove the interior dash and assembly to get to the units. Any help with this would be much appreciated!! Thank You!! Jeremy

I bought a late model car last year that sat in a field for 18 months.
I found mice, wasps, nests of who know whats.
The odor was unbearable.
First, power wash everything that you can reach. Including underneath the car and engine compartment, avoid the electronics.
Remove the cabin filter if there is one. Jam a vacuum tip in there. I made one very small from a cardboard tube and taped it to a shop vac.
Wash the carpeting with rug deodorizing rug cleaner. Leave a box of baking soda
in there for a day or two.
Spray Lysol into the ducts. Might take a few times.
If the weather allows keep the windows open for a day or two.
It took about three days to get the car acceptable. A week for all the stench to leave.
Good luck.
If you even think you still have mice, try some peppermint oil on a cotton
ball in a cup on the floor.

First post - just wanted to thank those who moderate this site and the many who post on all sorts of topics!

My old girl, a 2001 Subaru Forester was on it's way out so I started browsing cars. Was already looking at Yaris when I stumbled across this site. This site answered almost ALL of my questions and made the decision easy. Spent some time "breaking" in the new ride and then took her on her first trip to Ottawa this weekend... around 1000 km altogether. She was great, I love this car.

Thrilled with my new Yaris and can't wait to get the windows tinted and really make it my own. I have a couple of questions but will try to seek out the appropriate thread on here!

Cheers to all of you for putting together a great site for current and prospective buyers alike!

I'm really not new, but returning. Lost my job last November. All my contacts were lost. Started a new job at the same location, but for a contracting company.

Now my Daughter's engaged so Thank God he supplied a job so we could pay for part of it and go to the destination wedding.

My old screen name was, ScreenPrintR, and my new one is, ScreenPrinter. I know, very original.

Glad to be back. This site is very hopeful, and everyone is great.

Hello everyone.

I'm not new to the Yaris or this forum, but I have been away from all forums for a while. I have a 07 Yaris sedan S that I regularly compete with in SCCA SOLO, STF class #316. I have a Facebook page where I do most of my posting, but I will start sharing my racing experience and GoPro videos.

Hi Im new to the Yaris World forums and thought Id introduce myself. my name is Aimee, my husband and I own 3 Toyotas, a '94 Toyota pickup 4x4, a '99 Toyota Tacoma SR5 4x4, and now Im the new owner of a slightly used blue 2013 Toyota Yaris LE 4dr hatch. Ive had it for a week now and absolutely love it . It took me a month to fined the exact one I wanted, it had to be the LE model, a hatch with 4 doors, and it had to be blue lol. We were saving up for a new Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4 but we came across a situation where we needed a new vehicle ASAP and simply could not afford a new one. My husband's '94 Toyota pickup finally gave up the ghost after some *beep beep* mechanic blew it up by putting the gaskets in backwards and not tightening the bolts on the drive shaft. Yeah its a long story but it led to us buying our new little Yaris so its not all bad. It is slightly used so it does have some small body damage but Im working to fix that. I love Anime and pirates (one Piece is my fave lol) so Im looking at a lot of pirate theme modifications lol (it is Franky Blue btw ). Anyway I just wanted to say hi and wish everyone a nice day.

In the US the only models for the 2nd gen Yaris were the Yaris and Yaris S (appearance enhancements only). There were different packages which included such things as power windows and locks, larger washer capacity and PTC heater, etc, 60/40 split rear seat, etc.

Hi all!

I just traded my 6-cylinder, 2.8L 4-door VW Passat for a 2007 1.5L 4-Cyl 3-door Yaris.

While I admit that I was a bit apprehensive trading the Passat in, after driving the Yaris for more than a week, I'm glad I did. The gas mileage alone is impressive.

The other thing I was amazed at when I first saw the vehicle was the mileage it had: 21,350. I purchased it used this year (2015), meaning that the first owner barely put 3,000 miles on it per year. I couldn't pass it up, and after a short test drive, the girlfriend and I signed the paperwork.

I found this forum while I was in the dealer's lot while looking up info about the Yaris, and I was super excited to become a member. In the past, I was part of TacomaWorld.com and PassatWorld.com forums, and both were invaluable assets that I was happy to be a part of. I can only imagine wealth of knowledge available here. Heck, I spent 3 hours last night reading the Best/Worst Investments thread last night before signing up!

I was nearly as incredulous when the dealer told me the mileage. I had to see it myself and pull a Carfax to be sure it wasn't tampered with. It was definitely a selling point, but now that I've been driving it, I wouldn't change my mind if I was paid to!

Hi....!
Just bought a 2011 Yaris two door hatchback. I think I made a good decision. I'm in my mid seventies so age is catching up. This is my first post. I have a 1997 Subaru Impreza and a 2002 Focus wagon. The Focus needs a low oxygen sensor and the Subaru needs a new gas tank. I put $1700 into the Impreza last year and now it needs a gas tank! Another $1600! Has all new fuel, hydraulic and brake lines and rack and pinion. Runs great. Trying to decide on junking it or waiting until I can save enough to repair.
Does have rust as does the Ford. I'm in the Upper Peninsula where we get quite a bit of snow with lots of road salt and body rust damage. From what I've read block heaters aren't available for Toyota's. 30 below here isn't uncommon. Anyone know of a source for OEM batteries for the Yaris? Those I know last a long time! Speed limit up here is 55 mph. Having a heck of a timekeeping this frisky colt under 60. Hope to get cruise this week or next.

Hi everyone, new to Yaris World, i own a 2004 Yaris T-Sport, and I live in Reunion Island. Already had 3 mk1 yaris, 2 x 1.0l vvti and the last one the TSport 1.5l. It has a stock C56 gearbox that is very sporty (max speed 190km/h in 5th gear, should be around 120mph for you in US) The car is in good conditions, I'm building it slowly because I already have another car to finish first.
For the moment, I have energy suspension front sway bar bushings, rear trailing arms, and rolling with Valvoline 10w60 oil. Next is going to be the front trailing arm, braided steel brake lines, a high flow air filter etc. Next year planning on turbo it, rods/pistons/lsd/emanage/gt2554 etc. I'm aiming for a little 200hp at the wheels, aiming for torque because there are lots of hillclimb here :)

Hello from Ontario Canada, just purchased an 07 Sedan, 70k, automatic, air, !5" tires, windows locks. to replace our old Malibu as a second vehicle. So far it seems to be a great little car, a little "skittish" on the highway but I guess I need to get used to the short wheelbase, light car compared to the heavier old Malibu it replaced. Interestingly I went to the local dealer to cut a spare key (I have the two original remote keys) and was told it was $300 for a remote key or $100 for the non-remote, chipped key. Gave them the VIN too. I went to a local locksmith, he checked the key, no transponder, $7 for a nice padded replacement key. I called the dealer back and they said their parts lookup via VIN noted it was supposed to have an immobilizer. The $7 key works just fine, dealer parts guy is scratching his head.

I recently bought my used Yaris, originally sold new in April 2012. Took my wife to the local Toyota dealer as she wanted to get a new Aurion to replace our Holden (Chevy in the USA) Captiva. We had decided we needed to buy a second vehicle as well, so I took the Yaris for a test drive. Wow, what a fun car. it's the base model with the 1.3L VVT-i motor. In six weeks of ownership, I have driven the Aurion 3 times when going out as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers). Each time, I think to myself how much more I enjoy driving the Yaris.

I found this site, and the amount of info is amazing. CTScott is a legend for the knowledge he is sharing. I will be keeping my Yaris basically stock. Only mods so far are better headlight bulbs, LED reversing lights and a reversing camera. I'm waiting for the Cruise Control switch to arrive from overseas, as I am having trouble holding this little bundle of fun down to the speed limit...

Two days ago my wife showed me a 2008 Yaris on a local buy/sell/swap website. 87,000 miles. $4,000 asking price. Yesterday morning we went to take a look.

5 speed. Cruise control. Power windows and locks. Rear wiper and defroster. AM/FM/CD/MP3(WMA) with the aux. input. Badly cracked windshield. One non-stock rim. A few other minor cosmetic dings. The car had been parked for a long time, as evidenced by the 2014 tags on the plate. The dipstick didn't want to come out easily either, but there wasn't any unusual evidence of condensation under the fill cap and the engine ran smoothly and quietly.

The car drove well enough too, except for a very slight brake pulse. The tire pressure warning light was also on, and one tire was visibly low. At the conclusion of our test drive I noticed a growing puddle of oil under the engine and everywhere on the bottom-sides. We told the guy we'd think about it and drove off.

An hour later we offered $3,000, and the offer was eagerly accepted (too eagerly, which made us more than a little nervous).

Lost all of the oil on the drive home excepting one quart. Incidentally, I added that quart halfway home. The oil pressure light never did come on though. Also stopped at the store on the way home and bought fresh oil and a new filter.

Sure enough, the filter (Fram) had corroded and the paint on it was bubbling, and one of the bubbles had a sizable split in it: the source of the leak. Changed the oil and filter, put air in the tires (all were down around 20psi), and took it for another drive. No more oil leak, but the tire light was still on.

Haven't decided whether I'll get a sensor for the non-stock rim or pull the bulb on the warning light. Checked with Toyota and had them order parts for the seat recall (three open recalls on the rig, the most critical being the overheating power window switch). Also visited an old buddy who runs the local glass shop and had him order me up a windshield ($570 installed if I remember right).

Tomorrow I'll switch over the title and get the Yaris registered. Then I'll start driving it, and brace myself for the trauma of selling my beloved 98 Metro (bought it new and will hate to see it go, but it's worth something now and won't be worth anything if it rusts much more). I'll miss the gas mileage (why is it that only hybrids can compete against Metros for economy?), but perhaps the Yaris will prove to be as reliable. Only time will tell...

Hello all. I just got myself a 2007 Yaris SR 1.8.

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160209/af3b55523fa8c22e7f5d9d8ba3d8a1ab.jpg

Just some general questions. I'm going to keep it standard for a while, it is the fastest car I've owned so it should keep me entertained for a while. When I do get to modding I'm thinking a cotton panel air filter and some chassis reinforcement. So far I've found Fensport to be the best source of mods online. Speculating about what I may do later, I've seen a few turbo options for the 2zr-fe but all for the Corolla, do you guys find engine bay space to be a problem when it comes to adding parts? Also since lotus started using the 2zr-fe for the Elise in supercharged form, are there any lotus parts I should look into for gains (never mind the obvious supercharger route)?

Hello all!

Just finally joining in to participate and research. I couldn't get my last account to work and had no responses from the Admins, so here I am starting over.

I've followed the forum over the years, mostly lurking and reading about the Blitz/Ogura supercharger over the years for fun. I currently own (although it's sold when Spring snow in NY melts a k20z1 JRSC Ep3), and have moved onto a 2012 Scion iQ.

When I picked it up it had under 18,000 miles, Katzkin leather seats, aftermarket moonroof, added TRD wing, and foglights. Otherwise 100% stock.

I picked up the iQ since I now work from home, am married, and needed to get rid of the harsh riding civic and R32. Since my wife drives 45 minutes one way everyday and can't drive manual the iQ fits perfectly into our lives.

Having said all that, the mod bug bit and being on a very strict budget, I've started researching and trying to find little things to make me enjoy taking it through the mountains of PA where we currently reside. I've used a lot of older cast off spare parts from my Ep3 in the process.

Current items on the install list or already installed....

205/50/15 Advan Neova tires
15x7 35et Volk TE37 wheels
Razo 320mm broadway mirror
Razo pedal kit
DIY homemade 16mm rear swaybar
DIY CVT extension to bring up shift handle to my reach/height
Ancient Bride Zeta 2 shell rehopolstered and mounted to floor (I'm 6'4" and stock seat have no lateral support)
K&N filter
MI crank pulley (not installed)
1ZZ throttle body (not installed)
Tein H-Tech springs (not installed)
Repurposed turbo header (not installed, looking to see if it's a viable idea)

Thanks guys!!!

Hey everyone! I just bought my 07 blue Yaris 3dr hatchback a couple weeks ago and must say I love it! It's just a commuter for me but I really enjoy driving. I'm 6'3" so it's a little small but really for a small car it's very spacious. The wife will be using our Buick for around town so this is now my fun car. Planning on doing some mods to it in the next year or so and glad to find all the resources here in the forums.

I bought it with a bum clutch, just replaced that with an Exedy clutch and it's pure butter to drive now. Next up is to get a new sound system, then possibly exploring plasti-dipping the whole car. Going to be fun. Looking forward to posting about my projects once they are underway.

Hi everyone, my girlfriend has an 07 Yaris LB AT that I'm looking to add cruise control, power windows, power locks+alarm, and maybe upgrade the stereo plus do some small cosmetic things too. Lots and lots of good info here, I've spent the past few months off and on reading threads! Finally decided to post up and say HI from Seattle!
