1. are the two pulleys in question at the same height?

yes

2. from the anchor point, does is the rope perpendicular with the ground?

yes

3. is the person holding the rope perpendicular to the ground?

yes

4. 30 degrees is the angle between the rope and vertical or the weight and the rope (horizontal)?

30 degrees between the rope and the horizontal

Rich I don't know what to tell you, I'm having a brain lapse. For some reason I think we would need to know one length of each triangle to be able to sum moments to come up with a tensile force.

Sorry I couldn't help out.

hrm well a large portion of the question was originally in the form of a drawing, and niether it nor the associated writing indicated that there were two ropes, that combined with the fact the question did not specify solving for the horizontal or vertical component and the fact that all answer choices didn't indicate horiz or vertical directions, plus the calculator that you had to use on the test didn't have trig functions and no trig tables were provided with the reference material given with the test leads me to believe that your right, it was 600# tension force. The elaborate drawing, the angles, all of it was a ruse to throw you off the fact that it was just a matter of simple logic. HAHAHAHAH cool. Thank you so much for helping me with that.

Usually between $10-$18K, depending on the year.

That's almost cheaper than my Yaris...you sure? I might just move to the states if that is true.

And to put it into perceptive it costs 70,000$ here.

Here's an '05 for $13K with 6,000 miles. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=254048549&dealer_id=63502861&car_year=2005&rdm=1232976216005&num_records=25&model=IMPREZ&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1981&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=used&distance=0&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&first_record=101&make=SUB&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&position=top&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceASC&address=44663&advanced=&end_year=2010&pager.offset=100&transmission=&doors=&max_price=&cardist=217&standard=false

No problem fnkngrv, I agree. That's why I only buy brand new.

But, all cars like that seem pretty cheap around here. There's a few 03+ WRX sedans (non STI) for between $6-8K here.

He's had it for a few months with no problems, but I'm sure a car like that has been abused at one point or another.

Well, I'd like to do the same thing. Is there a certain spot you'd recommend cutting it at? Or anything you would do different?

ChinoCharles
01-28-2009, 01:14 PM
I need:

A good idea for a company name
A good idea for a company logo

I own:
chazzum.com

I think its a good domain, but I have no idea what direction to go in with a logo. It sounds like chasm... I was thinking of making a text-based logo where the Z's looked like little chasms, but I think it would look cheesy. I hate conceptualization... someone give me an f'n idea so I can open up Illustrator and get on with the shit.

33OH
01-28-2009, 01:15 PM
You could always domain forward too, remember. You're not stuck with chazzum if you don't like it.

Personally, with the two Z's in there, I almost think jagged/lightning/etc. with those.

Possibly an arrow somewhere to symbolize moving forward, technology, etc. since it is web design/development.

ChinoCharles
01-28-2009, 01:17 PM
Well, I'd like to do the same thing. Is there a certain spot you'd recommend cutting it at? Or anything you would do different?

I would have cut it down a little less. I'd recommend nothing more than an inch and a half. Cut it from the middle of the shaft. We cut 2 inches off of mine, and then I sat in the car and held the top piece to the bottom at an angle where it felt comfortable and we welded it on that way, so my shifter is kind of custom fit. It pitches toward the rear of the car a little bit. Feels great. If you're going to go that route, make sure the top piece is long enough so the stock shift knob will clear without hitting the angle.

33OH
01-28-2009, 01:18 PM
Will clear what?

ChinoCharles
01-28-2009, 01:24 PM
Basically, if you're going to angle your shifter like me, make sure that angle doesn't start until at least about an inch and a half down the shifter. Otherwise the stock shift knob will hit the angle before it gets a chance to screw on, if that makes any sense.

33OH
01-28-2009, 01:29 PM
Why did you angle yours? I really don't see a reason personally.

ChinoCharles
01-28-2009, 01:31 PM
Because I sat in the car and held everything exactly how I thought I wanted it and it turned out to be at an angle. That is kind of what I'm saying... take it as an opportunity to totally fit the shifter to your preferences, but be careful at the same time. You can't get a replacement for that stick without buying the whole cage.

33OH
01-28-2009, 01:33 PM
Ahh I see. Alright, I'll have to do that. I ordered my boot to be 2.5" shorter already, but I guess I'll have to mess with it.

How about a genie with Chazzum tattooed on its chest? Kind of sounds like "Shazam".

or maybe not.....

I have my web portal too ozftomb.net however I was never able to get my site built  BTW....if anyone was curious the ozf = Ones and Zeros File Tomb. I want to build a file repository for my friends that need places to store stuff for sites like this to make life easier for them.
